Walkers Wanna Compare Notes??

Great photos and report, Wendy! You rock, girl! It was so much fun cheering for you on Saturday and when I saw you Sunday at that switchback I knew I was on track to finish.

I am loving everyone's reports and pictures. I still can't believe that I finished a marathon. I am hoping that some of the pictures on the course turned out as I didn't stop to take any along the way.

Scott and I had a great time. He has already signed up for the Goofy next year, (or really the Dopey because we have both signed up for the 5K) and I have decided to attempt the full marathon. We had a good time cheering on fellow WISHers at the full. Congrats to all who finished, and hope no one was caught in the rain storm. It was great to see those that we did, and sorry that we missed some of the meets. My plans for getting back into training right away were thwarted by single digit temperatures, and winds in excess of 30 mph! If it does not get better today, I will be relegated to the dreaded treadmill!

Way to go, Lynn! It was so much fun seeing you at MK....twice! Thanks for all the support.
I'm thinking about next year.....part of me would love to do the full again. I just don't want to put in the long and grueling training again. I remember feeling for about 4 months before the marathon that I had no life other than training.
I would very much like to do the half, have time to pose with the characters a little bit and get all the work done early. That way I could cheer for the full the next day and maybe even get some time in the parks. I know for sure that none of us in this family will be doing the Goofy so we still have lots of time to decide. Now John is talking about attempting to do the full next year and I don't know if I'm really up to dealing with that.

Just checking in to say Hello. Crazy me that swore I would never do another is now looking at local ½’s to possibly do. Mark said No Way, no more than an 8K.

We have a Seacoast ½(walker friendly) that sounds fab but in February can be brutal. So I don’t think that will happen. I doubt that any will live up to the joy of the Disney ½ . I guess I’m missing the training even just a bit and knowing that all of you will be training again and I’m not going to be part of it next time. MMMMMMmmmm wonder if I should reserve a room at the BW – just in case???

We’ll see, have a great day, hope to hear from Dave soon.

Hi Everyone!

I was afraid to stop for photos with the characters, so I will just have my memories...I'm still feeling the "high" from the race, and every time I tell someone about it, I get happy all over again.

I am really looking forward to coming back next year, being better prepared physically, and finishing faster! Now I just have to do that pesky training to get there:rotfl:

Jeanne -- I agree with you. We didn't cheer for the full because we were completely wiped out. After the support I received, I really want to return the favor. Next year, I want to be able to move better the day after!:cool1:

Lynn -- I'll be on the TM today, too. We have too much ice outside, and I'm a big chicken!;)

Nancy -- It's surreal, isn't it?! Having done something I think is for athletes, not "real people", is starting to sink in. I guess we're all athletes!:cheer2:

Wendy -- I loved your race reports! What a great time was had by all!:woohoo:

Denise -- I'm sorry we didn't get to meet, but I'm sure we'll run into you one of these days! :goodvibes

Dave -- What a pleasure to meet you and Erica! You are the glue, buddy!:thumbsup2

Robert -- Here's hoping you have good news and feel better each day:grouphug:

Eva -- Like you, I plan to get way faster next year, so the sweepers are just a distant memory. We did great, though! We finished!

Bill -- Thanks for keeping the home fires burning, we are going to have a blast in 2009!:yay:

Today I'm doing 30 minutes on the TM. I'm going to start slow and see how I feel. I'm planning on a 2-mile workout on Saturday. I think I'll be fine for both, but I haven't tried to move quickly since Saturday.

Hey our pictures are starting to show up on the Web.

Here is our group shot.

Nick hamming it up, Me in Pink, Mark beside me, Hope with the white hat,
Tracy in the back and Miranda down in front.

Were we happy, YOU BET!

Hi pretty princesses, Robert, Bill and Scott.

We just got home, 11 hours of driving. We didn't run into the bad weather that was predicted but did find the cold weather in Georgia. We stopped for gas and couldn't believe how cold it was, I wanna go back to Disney.

I can't possibily catch up with everyone tonight, so I'll just say how proud I was of everyone. We came, we saw, we kicked it's ****.

Everyone did super, what an experience this whole trip was. The races were tough but we got through it.

Dave and Erica, glad to see you made it home safely.

Jeanne, I think the 09 marathon will probably be my only full, I do enjoy the half marathons, and might even get to the point that I feel I can stop for more than a second to get some pictures. But I thought that I should try the full marathon once, and Disney seemed the best place to do so.

Robert, hope the shins are feeling better.

Today will still be cold, but the wind has abated - down to about 10mph, so I will get out for a 5 mile (hopefully) walk with the dogs today. They need the milage as much as I do.

Lynn:eeyore:

Hi Guys!

I did my half hour on the TM yesterday, and it was hard...I went much slower, and my legs felt like I was climbing a big hill -- on a 0 incline. I guess there's a reason you recover slowly. Anyway, I'm going to do my half hour on the bike this afternoon. We'll see how that feels....

Jeanne -- You said it! The Party Panda is in the house!:dance3:

Dave -- So glad you're back safe. Feel free to be "Napping Panda", that was hard work!:car:

Lynn -- I hope your 5-miler feels awesome!:yay:

Everyone have a great, long weekend!
Maria

I posted this on the main thread, but thought you might not see it there. Here is a race that's in the general Raleigh area. Maybe Jackie, Renee and Wendy would be interested......at least we won't have to spend alot of money on those professional photos! (I wonder if they'd allow Wendy to still wear her Cheshire cat hat....) :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Check it out:

Jeanne Darlin, now you know I just can't have my pretty princesses running around like that. If you guys did I would have to come to keep you ladies out of trouble.popcorn::

I went to the pool this morning for some easy pool running and a good stretch in the hot tub. I won't start training again till monday then just easy for a week.

Maria it's normal to be still feeling the effects of the race. The rule of thumb is to rest or workout easy one day for each mile raced. You will start feeling better soon. Tell that Hubby of yours that he needs to spend more time with us next time, you guys are invited for the relaxing and beer drinking.

We are going to try to stay at the boardwalk for the ToT fun. We will bring beverages again for an after race nitecap again. Jeanne and John joined, Robert, Linda, Erica and I last time but we had beer and coolers for a lot more. Erica and I bring the drinks down with us from Ky in the car.

I made an appointment with the Dentist to get started on my dental work, I start on Feb 5th. I was putting it off till after the Goofy weekend. Wish me luck, I will need a partial and maybe full dentures on top. I have had paradontal problems all my life and have been keeping my natural teeth as long as possible, but now I have some that have really gotten loose so it's time. Paradonal is where the bone underneath the teeth wears even though the teeth themselves are healthy. After this aqdventure is over then Erica will be getting her bunion cared for. I know a waste of good disney money.

I want everyone to know how proud I am of Erica. My dear princess had a really sucky year last year with her heart and dental problems and a sore bunion to boot. She wasn't able to train well because of her problems but she made it through her Goofy. The courage I wittnessed in her and Nancy and Jeanne and so many others wall so inspiring.

Everyone remember to sign up for the miles game so you will have extra accountability for keeping on keeping on.

Have a super weekend gang.

Again, I say, THANK YOU to all -

everyone Tim and I met were so kind, and friendly - it was hard for me to put names to screen names, and as I am back reading there are some *DING DING oh THAT's who that was" moments!!

So I thannk so many of you that went out of your way to come up to me and encourage me, to pat me on the back and give me courage to keep on keepin on!! Because of all the support (and maybe some of the fun that was missed - did someone say "beer"??? lol) We are planning on doing this again - I know I owe Tim a "Goofy" try!! (he really is not happy I wouldnt let him sign up for it this time!!) We'll pass on '09 but we'll maintain a training schedule, and I hope to meet some of you at the Chicago Distant Classic in August!!

Dave and Erica, - thanks for your spirit - I'll definately hold you in our prayers!! Good Luck Feb 5 Dave!!

I feel your pain. 2 years ago I had a 2 crowns and a bridge. I am still having a difficult time with the bite on that side. $3000 and I wish I had never had it done. Hope your experience is better than mine.

How back to normal am I? I’m ready for another long walk. Temp is 45 here today, sun is shinning and I’d love to be outside. It’s suppose to get bitter cold here this weekend so I may have to rethink my walking plans.

Dave, there is a picture of you in the MK and my son Nicholas is in that picture! Is on the disneyrunning.com site.. Go figure, he was right next to you. He was on the run because he knew if Miranda and Mark caught him, he’d be toast. It was all his fault that we did this thing but in the end (don’t tell him) we all had a blast and we’re so darn proud of ourselves. Miranda and I would love to do it again but we’ll see. I’ll have to watch and see how things are financially when it gets close to filling up. She is getting married this year and that will be another expense! She’s so bummed, the TOT race is on her wedding day or else she’d be doing it.

Well back to work for me.

I was drinking Pespi when I read that, needless to say there is Pepsi all over the front of the computer.

Dave-- Glad that you and Erica made it home safely. Sorry to hear about the needed fixer up treatments you both need. You know once you hit 50 things just start to fall apart. I want to thank you for your support during the marathon. Just wish I could have kept up with you for the entire time.

I haven't made it back to the gym yet mostly because LTO and so much to catch up on at home. Will be starting back next week.

Nancy

I wonder if you get bibs in a nudie race.......that would be an EEEK!
