Today 5 of us did the 5K race for the fallen sponsored by the Police Dept. It was very hard for me. My calves were killing me throughout the race. I should have taken tylenol prior to the race but I didn't I still did it in under 38min and was very happy with that. Again Mark and I have a hard time together. He seems to be waiting for me and I feel like I'm trying to play catch up. Very frustrating. But in the end, I did run across the finish line ahead of him just to be a pain. He laughed. We got 2 shirts, a nice medal and lots of food at the end.

I will concentrate on stretching, icing and massaging my calves so that I'm not in pain come January.

We did see another runner with a Disney 1/2 marathon shirt and we talked to her. She was very positive and encouraging to us. She wished she had been in the parks more during the 1/2 but still had a nice overall experience.

Nancy: Congratulations!Great job!!!! That sounds like you finished with a great time considering all the hills. As much as I hate going uphill, it's downhill that always slows me down....and it sounds like you had plenty of them. That course also sounds very confusing. I would not have liked to walk in the midst of runners either. That would have really freaked me out. Don't worry, WDW is mostly flat and we won't have to be with the fast kids. We'll do fine.

BTW, Thanks for all the help.....I finally got the pumpkin in my siggy.

Nancy, Beth: consider yourself both boo'ed. I tried to send you PMs, but maybe it was forwarded one too many times as it was a very long attachment.

Also congrats to everyone else who trained or competed this weekend. I've been out most of the weekend, so haven't gotten to read all the posts.

Good morning team!!!!

Don't feel like much of a team mate this week, missed lots of posting and lots of training but am hoping to do alot more of both this week.

Congrats to all the racers this weekend....Nancy 20 MPH winds....burrrrrr

My Saints finally won a game..yipppeeeee, good thing as the boss and I had a little coffee and donut wager on the game....lol......also my Jags won so I was 2 for this weekend, actually 3 for if you include my Toronto Argos!!!!!

Got a 3K on tap for tonight, not really training for the ToT, as it within the training program for the 1/2 in Jan so just following the 1/2 training program and hope it all works out.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Just a quick post as it is a typical Monday morning. Here is the elevation chart from the half.

http://www.thebaltimoremarathon.com/Assets/2007+Half+Elevation+Balt.pdf

That one steep downgrade I minded worse than going up the hills.

I do alot of hills when I walk, but I really don't do nearly 7 miles of hills at one stretch. I thought my legs might be a little sore today, but feel good. I also have my Ecco Yucatan sandals on which feel great. Today will be doing a 4 mile walk with my new MP3 player which I actually loaded my own music into. I have moved into the 21 st century. I even figured how how to get the bouncing boo in my signature.

Denise--- Congratulations on your 5K.

At Baltimore those first 5K finishers completed that in less time than I do a normal mile.

Jeanne and Dave--- Thanks for the bouncing boo. Jeanne you pm finally came through.

Only 2 days till I leave.

Nancy

Good morning walkers.

Sorry I wasn't around much yesterday but we went to bed right after dinner. I slept 11 hours so maybe I got the tired bug out of my system. Amazing how a little change of schedule can throw your body into a tizzy (is that a word?).:)

I also learned this weekend that I'm officially full of hot air, race expo had a test for that.:upsidedow

Nancy you did super.:dance3:

I did manage to get my jumpy pumpkin Mickey to show up.

Can it really be only a week till we head south? Wheeeeeeeeee!!!!

We are headed out for our 14 mile LSD, wish us luck.

Buenos Dias!

I'm a little tired this morning, but I'm feeling good about my workouts. I finally broke 6 miles in 90 minutes last night, so that was a great feeling. It seems like all of a sudden I could just do more, my pace just got faster. Let's hope that stays!:cool1: If I can do that for the entire Disney Half, I will beat the sweepers! Now I just want to keep getting a little faster, so I won't have to worry about it.

Dave -- I completely understand about being tired. Last week, I simply could not get enough sleep. I kind of feel that way today, but I'm hoping to get to bed an hour earlier tonight.

Nancy -- I bet your all packed! Have a wonderful journey, and a fantastic time at the World! :maleficen Great job! It sounds like you had some real challenges, but you did so well!

Kim -- Enjoy your 3K, I'm hoping for another 6 miles tonight. I am really pushing because I am trying very hard for there to be less of me. I figure the more time I put into training, the less time I have to put food in my mouth!:rotfl:

Jeanne -- I am reassured to hear the runners will not be beside me at the back of the pack at the Disney Half. I think that would be so intimidating!:scared1:

Denise -- Congrats on your 5K! It sounds like you had a good time!:thumbsup2

Everyone look forward to an awesome week!
Maria

Ugggggghhhh only a week seems to be taking forever. I do have lots to do before I can officially be on holidays, work and home related but I will be ready.

WTG Dave on getting in 11 hours sleep, sometimes you just need to listen to what you body needs and go with it.

Looking forward to getting out for a walk tonight, weather here has turned miserable so it might be on the TM but I will getter dun!!!!

Kim

Hello everyone!

Well I went onto the coolrunning website to check out our times for yesterday’s race. Miranda, ever the turtle, did a great job, Nick has improved and Hope is coming along also. I did better than I expected but my shins hurt a lot. I will take Tylenol before my next race – Disney in order to ward off the pain. I had done this previously and it worked great. Mark says he told me to take some but I don’t remember that. I worry that my times weren’t great but they had people telling us what our times were along the route so that was helpful and I was relieved during the race. I’m sure Disney does the same.

Mark lost his chip during the race but he stayed with me all along so his time does not register.

Hope you all continue to train, enjoy the process and of course, some of you will be starting to pack for your upcoming TOT. Can’t wait to hear all about it! PLEASE take plenty of pictures – nothing incriminating tho……

Hello all

So posted above is my time (wdw4us) I shaved 5mins off my time...so I am very excited to be done a 5k at 32 mins. :) and I was under 500 :) I was 496 I am very happy with my results! And today is rest day because my legs are killing me. Hope every one is doing well.

Nice race Miranda, Denise and family, you guys ROCK!!!!:dance3:

Nancy, Erica likes her Ecco sandals so much she bought a pair of their running shoes for her winter walking shoes.

We did our 14 miles, quite pleasent but anything over 10 miles is a long darn walk. The weather was perfect mid 60s with a breeze. Not tornados like Connie has in Texas but gentle breeze that feels just right.

We had the 14 miler planned for two weeks but had to bail because it was to hot. So I'm glad we finally got it done.

Walk strong princesses.

Hello, everyone!

Nancy, way to go on your half! I don't think I'd have liked the whole merging thing either. On the Albuquerque half that Connie and I did, we had to double back for part of it and there were walkers and runners going two different directions for part of it and that was just - icky!

I must be getting old. I read all your posts, and then I can't remember what I was going to say to which one of you! LOL!

Nancy, it sounds like you're the first of us to get to leave for WDW! You know, I could be packed in 20 minutes and go with you!!!! I am SO ready!

I did a little 3-mile walk after work this evening. Gosh, the days sure are getting short! I was a little late getting off work and it's a good thing I didn't need to walk another mile, or I'd have been finishing in the dark. Even though where I walk is through the middle of town, we have lots of wildlife and not all if it is friendly! There was a sighting of at least one mountain lion a couple of weeks back in the park which is at one end of the trail. There were two sightings, but authorities weren't sure if it was two sightings of one lion or if there were 2 lions. I sure don't want to be kitty food!!! :scared: After ToT, I'll be on the TM at least 2 days out of the week......

I'm off to the shower and bed, but I'll be rooting for those Rockies in my sleep! (Robert, you must be getting as old as I am because I'm the one rooting for the Rockies......I don't know that Connie cares at all about them! LOL!)

Kathy

Kathy: I have had probably 11 hrs sleep the last 3 days unlike others who get 11 hrs in one day.

Maybe Clevland will make a Series out of it yet. I am rooting for whoever comes out from the NL. Maybe we will watch some of the WS games at ESPN???

Good morning Walkers.

Well the 14 mile training walk yesterday was long but ok. I expected to be a little sore from that today but I feel great. Must have been all the sleep I've been getting. Only 8 hours last night.

We have 7 miles planned for today. Should be a breeze after yesterday's LSD. There is a light mist of rain so that will make it different. Erica bought the Ecco Running shoes, 'Recepters', yesterday so she will try those today.

Robert we will call you when we arrive. We are planning to leave on the 23rd stay over somewhere close to the Florida border and driving in the next day. We plan to arrive anywhere from 12 to 2 pm. We need to get our annual pass cards and check in at the Swan.

Have a great day y'all.

Dave:hippie:

Morning everyone. Today is my last day of work and then tomorrow at this time should be touching down at MCO. I am nearly all packed which is so unusual for me usually I am a last minute packer. Will load the car tonight since we will be on the road early to get to BWI.

I did 4 miles on the TM last night. I got a late start and like Kathy said it gets dark early so need to use the TM to get it done.

Kathy-- That is scary about the mountain lions. I only have to worry about foxes and deers. Congratulasons to the Rockies.

Dave---I am loving those Ecco Yucatan sandals. I would have to try on other styles before I ordered on line as my sneakers are a size and half larger than my sandals. I just have a terrible time finding the right shoes for my feet.

Got to get to work so I can get out of here and start vacation.

Nancy

Aw nancy you are soooo lucky!!!

I wish you a safe trip and can't wait to meet ya!!!!.

Sorry just a quick drive by, just got in the to office....3 hours late. Had to take DD to the DR so no time to chat ....well until later...lolk

Have a safe flight, Nancy! I'm so jealous......we still have 9 more days until we leave. I am very excited about getting together with all our old friends(cruisemates) and finally getting to meet all the new ones (WISHers)! We get in around 10am on Thursday and then we are at the mercy of Magical Express. Hopefully we'll be checked in by noon so we can run over to Epcot and pick up our DDE card (unless it arrives in the mail) What time do you want us to meet you at the Poly? My waitlist for BWV using DVC points never came through so we'll be at POFQ the first night and then BWV the next 2.

I did my 2-mile very fast walk today and I think some of it was actually proper (or close to it) race walk technique. I get to a point where in order to walk faster, I have to do a little hip thrust movement and push off with my back leg. I'm pretty good with it, except my arms get tired before my legs do because I hold them a little higher than when i just walk. I'll have to give Dave a demo and he can critique me. (Just don't let Erica know I'm gonna do a hip thrust for you!)
