A friend of mine will be there the first part of January. Her husband said he would like to eat Ohana's for his birthday just the two of them. Shes not having any luck getting adrs. Anyone have any luck walking up and getting a table for two there?

It would be very unlikely that they would take a walk up party of any size at 'Ohana. It's always booked to capacity (this the unavailability of ADRs). Tell them to keep checking, especially in the couple of days leading up to their desired date. Some people will cancel right at the 24 hour mark.

Good luck with that. This place book up fast so I doubt they will be able to walk up and get in. I would keep looking a few times a day and see what happens.

They don't hold tables for walk-ups, if that's what you're asking. If they cannot get an ADR, it means that it is fully booked. Given that Ohana perpetually overbooks, even if they have a few no-shows it is unlikely anyone extra gets seated.

My husband and I went in September and tried to walk up and were told they only do reservations. Sorry.

Just to back up what people above have said, in December we were next to check in and overheard the hostess tell a couple that they don't take walk ins (and this was a half an hour after they opened).

We were there last week and fell in love with Ohana! I checked everyday after for an adr (just in case ) and there was usually an opening for that day or the next, but the times were normally really late or really earl for dinner

We were looking to change our 'Ohana ADR time in July and had about a half-dozen options in the days leading up to the meal. People cancel to avoid the no-show fee. Tell them to keep checking.

Ohana is a must do every time we visit. I have noticed that over he last few years it has become more and more difficult to get a reservation even right at the 180 day mark. Keep checking the web site. You never know when someone might cancel and you might get lucky.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I will let her know to keep checking but to have a plan by also.

It doesn't hurt to try. Early January isn't the busiest time but go at a shoulder time and be prepared to say no. If a large party cancels last minute or you just get lucky you might just get in, especially with a small party, but I'd go with unlikely.

I have had good luck getting hard to get ADRs the day before since people cancel to avoid the penalty. Keep checking! Good luck!

I have never had luck. I have stayed there many times for 7, 10, 12 days at a time and cant get anything until at least 9:30pm w/ a ressie. Walk up is impossible..Ive tried :)

I would, however, suggest the Luau (Spirit of Aloha) for the birthday celebration. Great atmosphere, food and cute show with a spectacular hula/fire dancing ending! All you can drink beer/wine and sangria are good too :)

I agree with others ADR's tend to open up one to two days before because of the no show policy. We were able to book California Grill one day before during Wishes on our last trip :) . Keep trying and have a great trip.

They could try the touring plans dining reservation finder. I haven't used it yet myself but have heard good things. Otherwise tell them to keep checking closer they get to their trip. I will admit to having multiple Ohana reservations scheduled right now for my March trip. I will cancel the extra ones once I finalize our park day plans/fast passes. I am sure I am not the only one that does this.

I've had good luck with the Touring Plans reservation finder. Another option - maybe do the Spirit of Aloha dinner show? Or go to Trader Sam's for drinks and apps and then have dinner elsewhere?
