Has anyone EVER got a table without an ADR at either Le Cellier or breakfast at Chef Mickey's.

I have a friend going the first week of September and when she called the reply she got was "We do not have any seating available for your party." - what does that mean?

It means that with free dining they are booked solid. We were there last year September 1 - 9 and almost every day there was a sign posted at Magic Kingdom and Epcot that none of the table service restaurants had any openings but to please try one of the many counter service establishments. Your friend can always try and all the day she wants to go and see if someone cancelled.

we have walk up had to wait sometimes they can fit you in others times you. so it is just luck.

I've seen people get walk ups at Le Cellier, and my husband walked up there for lunch once. But the odds are against you for walking up to either of these in September.

I would say that you have a better chance at winning the lottery than you do getting a walkup during the free DDP month of September.

My understanding is that they book restaurants even more solidly during September leaving no room at all for walk ups.

Yeah, it's gonna be tough to hit any of the "hot spots" during free dining. She can call every day until she leaves or say to the CM "I want to eat at X time" and they might be able to find something.

Thanks everyone...I'll give her the bad news. She pretty much knows it's a shot in the dark, but was looking for a more "expert" opinion.

We had free dining last Sept and had an ADR booked for Le Cellier for dinner at 4pm. A family arrived at the same time as us and were able to get a walk up at 4pm also.

So its not impossible.:thumbsup2

A few years ago my family and I were able to walk-in into Chef Mickey's for dinner, however it was before the Dining Plan got really popular.

Yeah, I was thinking the same.

Maybe you will get lucky and somebody will cancel - but I personally would not count on this to happen.

Le Cellier and Chef Mickey's are not only extremely popular restaurants, but your sister is also going during Free Dining, which basically fills up all the restaurants hours after it is announced. She could try walk-ups, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. :)

Good Luck! :wizard:

September without an ADR, I wouldn't count on it. I saw folks turned away from both of those while there in Sept. Even with ADR we waited about 30 minutes at Le Cellier past our time plus we arrived early. Best bet is to keep calling and catch a break...especially when she gets close to the time frame folks will have to cancel their trips (45 day).

Your friend could keep trying to call b/n now and Sept. to see if there are any cancellations. Sometimes you get lucky. There is also the "Cancel/Transfer/Trade" thread at the top of the Dining Board that she could request an ADR for either or both places.

Never tried Chef Mickey's myself, but when I call for clients the CMs practically laugh at me when I try to get late bookings.

I personally have been turned away from Le Cellier plenty of times.

When we were checking in for our Le Cellier ADR in May a woman in front of me was trying to book a dinner ADR for later that week. They were booked solid but the hostess told her to try coming right at 4 p.m. as they sometimes can seat walk-ups right at the start of dinner service.

I've never done Chef Mickeys. For Le Cellier, I ate there for the first time in Feb 2007, and made an ADR maybe 60 days in advance, having read at Allears how busy it gets. Even in the middle of Feb, when we got there for our ADR, they were turning tons of walk-ins away. I tried to get an ADR again this December (New Years Week, planed a month in advance...someone remind me what I was thinking?) with no luck. Happily, I've got a lunch ADR for when I'll be there in October, though my dining rep told me Le Cellier was already mostly booked up through November already, and this was a few weeks ago. It's definitely very, very popular.
