Hi all, this weekend we will be visiting DL for the 1st time - we're so excited - I was wondering, has anyone here taken the "Walk in Walt's footsteps" tour? Was it worth it?
Thanks!!
Carla

I've never done it either, so I'd be interested too.

I havent taken the new tour but I took the old tour several times-
I really want to take the new tour but havent had the time (always been with people who dont want to)

If you are a DL junkie and know most of the history - the tour isnt going to teach ya more- but if you are a DL novice that doesnt know the history behind everything then Id recommend the tour- Almost everything at DL has a reason its there and its great to learn the "stories behind the magic"

Ive known people who have taken the new tour and thought it was very good-

I took the tour in 2000, I think.

I agree with Disneyland Emily -- I knew about as much as the tour guide - different trivia, but about the same -- then again, I've read a lot about the secrets, etc. I'm still glad I went. There are soooo many touches at Disneyland, it's just amazing.

If you're a novice, and you'd like to see Disneyland through Walt's perspective, it's a good tour. Younger children might get bored, though.

DE - what's different between the "old" and "new" tours?

We'll be taking the tour when we're there in August. We know people that have taken the tour and loved it.

I took the tour about six months ago. It was worthwhile to do and you get a pin!

The old tour was (about) 16 dollars and lasted about 2-3 hours depending on the group- First tour (alone) was about 3 hours 2nd tour was closer to 2 as the group got bored quicker-

The only attractions you entered were the Opera House for the Walt Story and Lincoln- and the Disney Gallery (First Tour I got to ride up to the Mark Twain though)

Now the tour costs upwards of 50 dollars (which includes lunch) and you go on alot more attractions like a private tour of Tiki Room (I believe a behind the scenes look also) also visits the lobby of Club 33 - Lunch is a set menu (you choose off the list) of sandwiches and salads in the Disney Gallery- Other than that I believe the same info is given and the tour lasts upwards of 3-4 hours- but you do get a nice pin afterwards

Disneyland_emily, a quick question. Whould this be a good way to start a first trip to Disneyland on day of arrival? This thread got me interested and I called and they have one starting after the time we should be at Disneyland. We get in at Long Beach at 9AM. The tour starts at 2:30PM.

<font color=navy>I think this would be a good way to start your trip. You'll have an insight to the original Magic Kingdom, some idea of what Walt Disney envisioned when he created this park, and you'll learn some secrets and trivia that most guests don't even know.

I think it will give a better appreciation of the park.

Enjoy your trip! :)

I agree- But its also two fold that since its your first visit there will already be alot to "discover" and even to hit all the e-tickets and other majors takes a pretty good chunk of time- But if you'll be at the park several days and have a chance to get everything done and see everything then I fully recommend the tour!

We get in on Jul 25 at 9AM at Long Beach. I figure we should be able to be in the parks by 12 or 1. We leave Thurs on a 9:25PM flight out of Long Beach. So I figure we will have until around 5PM or so on Thurs. That is 3 full days plus 2 1/2 days. Now it is time to look at the budget. The definates for us, Fantasmic Dessert, Goofey's Kitchen(hopefully both on Mon my Birthday) and Blue Bayou. Everything else is more than likely some kind of counter thing. DW said something about Build a Bear and maybe a Mr Potatoehead. LOL
