Here is a picture of my twins waking up Tinkerbell at MK last week:

Thanks to those who posted about it, we would have never known about it and it is fun to get in a 'surprise' for the girls.

Very cool! We never seem to be in Fantasy land at the beginning of the day. We are too busy getting to Tomorrowland!

Thanks for sharing the pictures!

I've never heard of this.

Could you explain what when and where this is?

Best short description I've found:

"Visit Tinkerbell's Treasures, a shop behind the castle, as soon as it opens. Inside the shop is a very special treasure box where Tinkerbell sleeps! If you are the first guest of the day to enquire, you might be lucky enough to be asked to wake her up. You’ll be told to wave a wand, say "Wake up, Tinkerbell" three times, and then you’ll hear Tink fly around the room. Of course, you probably won't manage to spot her because she's a fairy and flies pretty fast once she’s woken up, but you will see flashing lights and hear bells so you’ll know when she’s awake. You might also be given a certificate and some stickers."

We went to the early magic hour (8:00 am) and we went on the Indy Speedway first and decided to head over to Fantasy Land when I noticed the shop and remembered reading about it. We didn't head there first, but I would say we were there by 8:30.

My friend recently had a very negative experience with this. She and her daughter were the first ones in the shop and were walking over to ask if they could wake up Tinkerbell. Another girl came barreling in the shop, followed by her mother, who did NOTHING, and barged right past my friend and her little girl and got to wake Tinkerbell because she got there first. Talk about taking a sweet idea and spoiling it!

What a great picture!!

My neighbors, who have an adorable 5 yr old girl, just came home from their second trip to WDW a week ago. Before they left, I wrote out some advice for them - things to do, places to eat, etc. because they felt so overwhelmed on their first trip. (It was actually quite a long document - it's amazing what you learn on these boards.) One of the things I mentioned was waking up Tinkerbelle, though I cautioned that it might be really tricky. For instance, my family has never managed to get up in time.

Somehow, they did it! They got up really early for EMH, though they said there were thousands of people in line for the park before them, and even stopped for a picture on Main Street (though dh apparently almost strangled dw for losing focus on the task at hand). They were second in the store by a few seconds. A couple in their late 40s/early 50s with no kids actually managed to ask first, but, when the CM brought out the wand, she must have thought them one party -- she gave the wand to our little one! To their credit, the other couple did not argue. (Amazing thought that someone would want to take the experience from a 5 year old, but everyone held their breath just the same.) Anyhow, the little one got to stand on a stool, use the wand, and even got a "ceritfied magical moment" certificate signed by Peter Pan saying that she woke Tink up that morning. She told everyone she came across that day about the experience, including Cinderella, who was appropriately impressed, when she saw her for dinner.

:tinker:

When I went to watch the waking of Tinkerbell last year it was like the Running of the Bulls. I only watch, I would never try and take this once a day event away from a kid. I was at the Castle waiting for the rope to drop and there were many little girls in princess dresses with there family waiting to run to the Tinkerbell store. It was pretty frantic when the rope dropped.

The word is out on this Magic Moment, if you have your heart set on this you better be able to run fast and knock down little girls in princess dresses to get your child there first.

"running of the bulls" is a perfect description!

We went in Oct '05, after our CRT 8am breakfast, there at the back of the castle is a rope drop and a CM, and 3 dads, 2 strollers, a few moms, a few kids, and us, I whispered to DD what I thought was going to occur, dh and I agreed we'd go, but to watch how bad it was going to be, adn sure enough, one dad thrust his child in front of another dad, whose child ran... and then he screamed at the CM for giving the wand to the dad that literally threw his child in front of their child... (running of the bulls!!)

The CM's never lost their cool, they said all the kids in the store would get a Magical Beginnings certificate, over and over again, they remained calm, sincere, and kind to the children. We hung back as dd needed a new crown, hers broke at the breakfast!!

Another Dis'er (she had a lime green MM) also stood back, and we got a chance to chat then it was her dd turn... afterwards, they gave DD the wand, dd said, no that's ok, I wasnt first, I'm ok... but she (and nana insisted!!) and we did get a great picture!! Love the way Peter is peering in the picture!!

So be prepared!!

Wow! We must have gotten there on a good day then, because I hadn't even planned to do this with my girls and we had been at EMH for about 1/2 hour by the time we walked into Fantasy Land and when I saw the shop I remember the Waking Tinkerbell thing and decided to go in. No one else had come in by that time. I guess we just went on the right day. No one else came in while we were there either. We won't do it again, but it was fun to do something 'new' on this trip. Next year my girls will be too old for stuff like this anyway, so I'm glad we got it in for one of our Disney memories.
