I love coming here for the best advice.......from the DVC experts.
Here's my question, with background first. I called today for a DVC studio anywhere at WDW for November 4-7 since we booked a great airfare over the weekend. I had no idea the resorts would be so full the first of November. MS said it's New Jersey Teacher's Week and that's why.
What I ended up with was a one bedroom for the 4th, waitlisted for the 5th and 6th, and a studio for the 7th at SSR. The two rooms I booked on the 4th and 7th were the ONLY rooms at WDW to be booked on points at all except for a two-bedroom on the first night at OKW!

Can anyone think of anything I can do to increase my chances of getting my waitlist? I was offered the option to reserve on cash for the missing nights, but declined. Is there any advantage to calling daily, or will the computer be sure to catch a room if one is available.

I would love any advice........as I don't really want to sleep off-site and I want to do ME and Dining. Thank you.....

You may have already tried, but you could see if one of the WDW moderates or deluxes are available during the time you are going. I think you can book the CBR, POR and so forth using points. MS can check for you if you haven't explored this option yet.

But I don't think you can get the dining plan with this option, I think that has to be a DVC resort for it to be an option.

Also don't forget its the last week of the F&W, so its going to be very hard to have that waitlist come through. You are 30 days before departure now so if it doesn't come through with in the next day or two it won't.....cancellations will happen today for the 4th........keep your fingers crossed.

I feel your pain!!

We're going the 3rd through the 6th and feel really lucky that we were able to get 2 nights in a 1 BR at SSR on points & the 3rd night on cash.

Sending you some pixie dust! :wizard:

Also remember that the waitlist is emptied at 30 days- so you will need to call back then to be put back on the waitlist. In addiiton, I would suggest calling a couple of times each week. You should be on the automatic/daily waitlist where a day will be added as it becomes available without calling you to confirm that you still want it. Without that option, you will not get your dates unless they all become available at once and you are at the top of the waitlist.

Good luck!

Another idea: you might want to post that you want a reservation on the points for rent board...specify that DVC resorts are full, so you're looking for someone who may (unfortunately) face a last-minute need to cancel...it's a long shot, but possibly worth a try...???

Good luck and lots of pixie dust in your direction...

Call to check on your waitlist and mention that you would like for your search to remain active until 7 days before your trip. Most people's search will stop 30 days before and you will get moved up on the list when they drop off. I would do this now in order to remain as high on the list as you can. They can note it and not move you any lower on the list than you are right now. By doing this I just got really lucky and got a Boardwalk SV Studio Oct 20-22 which is during F & W. I just got it this week so it does work. Just in case it hadn't I had been educated by DVC Customer Service to call every day 7 days-0 days before my trip. Things happen in life and people have to cancel at the last min. Believe in the magic and it might just happen as it just happended to me only 2 weeks out when I thought it wouldn't.

Thanks for all the great ideas! I learned a few things that might be helpful. I called today and one of our waitlisted days came through! We are just waiting on the 5th of November now. I feel a little more hopeful now. I think I will call every couple of days and hopefully not wear out my welcome with MS. :hourglass

Wow, congrats!! I just got on the waitlist for a studio for Oct 21 and 22 at either BWV or BCV. I figure no way and booked a backup at POFQ annual pass rate. But you give me hope!

To the OP, good luck! I hope it comes in for you! :thumbsup2

Here is sending Pixie Dust to both of you to hopefully make your dreams come true. Believe in the Magic of Disney and it might!!!! Please let me know if your dreams are realized. I will have my fingers crossed for you.

:cloud9:
Our waitlist came through for a studio for all four nights!!!
The best part is that I got the greatest MS cast member ever....her name is Joy. She was the best, and not just because our request came through.
Thanks to all posters on this thread for the great advice...."Year of a Million Dreams" pixie dust to you all!

Congratulations all! These are really last minute plans, and even a SV at the Boardwalk became available. Wow!!

I called in to check on how our points would be handled if our waitlist came through. I was afraid of points going into holding because we had a one-bedroom ressie for Saturday night and were waitlisting for a studio. Joy was the CM and she asked me if I "believed in magic". I said "You bet I do!!!" Then she told me that we had the studio for all four nights and no points into holding. I told her it "truly was a Year of a Million Dreams. I'm serious!! I think she enjoyed telling me as much as I enjoyed hearing the news.

We are so thankful get the ressie. We have also learned a big lesson. No last minute trips unless we check availability first. :)

don't you just love it when you call and everyone sounds as tho there is nothing on earth they would rather do than help you. i would like to meet them all personally, just to say thanks. :goodvibes
