We will not be able to book our vacation until end of June-July. We are waiting to close on a resale. (Hoping it will be sooner). Before we decided to buy into dvc, my extended family planned a vacation for Dec 3-8. I have read that is the busiest DVC time. What are the chances of getting a 3 bedroom villa or really anything at that time if I wait list? There are 9 of us in our party.

No chance at all of a Grand Villa except maybe for a single night here or there. This is the busiest time of the year for DVC members and they book their stays 11 months out. You'll be lucky if you can get two consecutive nights in one villa that late. And multiple rooms will be very difficult as well.

You might want to wait until Dec 2014 instead of Dec 2013.

How is the week before Thanksgiving? Nov 17-22 run as far as availability? Is it a busy DVC time too?

Since Thanksgiving is late this year, you might have better luck during that week. But if you can't book until July, you might be too late for that week as well. Most members don't wait unilt a few weeks out to book their stays. Most book at eleven months out for their home resort and then try to change at seven months out.

I typically like to book way in advance too, it just happened that we are trying to purchase into DVC so close. Worse case, we will pay for this vacation, then (if everything goes through), use the DVC points for the second week April. (My kids spring break)...IF there are opening then.
