WaitList Question

We are waitlisted for the BW in June. MS asked if they can automatically change our ressie if the waitlist becomes available and we said yes. Will it do me any good to keep checking - you know the squeaky wheel...?

I do not want to take up their time if they really will do what they say. Anyone have any guidance on this? :confused3

Thanks.

We just joined and are waitlisted like you are for one additional night. From what member services said they will send you a confirmation in the mail if you get your request but we can call as often as we like to see if we got the request yet. The lady also said they stop doing the automatic wait list 7 days out before your visit so you need to call daily when you get to that point. Hopefully one of the Veterans will be able to help us out a little more, but I just wanted to let you know what I had been told.

Just curious about your dates and room request? We have a one br at the BW June 19-24th, but are waitlisted for the same at the BCV.

Don't bother checking, MS does things their own way. They are very orderly in the way they do things--the computer does it all. When someone cancels, it goes directly into the waitlist via computer, before it is put back into inventory. That's why you can't cancel and rebook, say if you wanted to reallocate your points. The computer automatically grabs your ressie, and gives it to whomever is waiting for your nights. Now, did you want to have the computer notify you via mail after every individual change? If so, you will begin to get paper when things begin happening. If not, then you might want to call after a month or two just to see if you are getting any of your nights--and did you request that they change individual days, or are they changing your ressie in a block? One way takes longer(the block), but individual days is more nerve-wracking because you might get day 1 and 4, but have to wait a long while for days 2-3. MS will happily explain the ins and outs of waitlisting, if you ask them. ;)

We are only going June 3 to June 7 for this trip. DS wants to go to the Star Wars weekend so bad and we just got SW fares $81 per person (does not include fees and taxes) from Providence. So we are flying down early Saturday, 6/3. At least he will get a day and a half. We could not go any earlier since this is the time of year for the MCAS (school standards testing in Mass). But hey, a few days is better than no days!

Our home resort is BCV, but this late in the game VWL, BC, and BWV were sold all out. I am curious though, are all the rooms held for DVC members at this point in time - being 4 months out? Or do they let cash customers take rooms before members?

Cruella, MS did say they had no nights- for studios- at all available for the BW, BCV, and VWL 6/3 - 6/7. I am crossing my fingers!

Oh forgot, does the DVC member website show when the ressie has been changed?

Yes, right now all the rooms are still being held for members, but you might call the regular WDW number to see if you can get cash nights. Disney has 5% of the rooms that they can rent out for cash, and 60 days out there will be some members that traded out, and their rooms will be released to cash customers too, at that time. There are also members who will cancel their ressies at 31 days so their points don't go into holding, so you might get something then. If absolutely necessary, you could always use your points at one of the paying hotels. It's a terrible use of points, but they do have rooms available, if you don't already have a room for the Star Wars weekend. Surely SSR has rooms, don't they?

I can't help with info about the website--I am a Mac user. :badpc:

Cash customers cannot reserve rooms that are in the member inventory.

Rooms do get sent to CRO/WDWTC out of member inventory to rent for cash - most of the rooms in this category are from members who use their points for certain non-DVC options. Revenue from the "traded rooms" goes back to DVC who uses it to pay for the members' trades.

60 days prior to arrival, any unreserved rooms in the member inventory may be sent to CRO/WDWTC. Members still have access to them, but are competing with cash customers for them. Cash revenue from these rooms goes back to DVC and is used to reduce annual dues - it's called "Breakage Income" on the budget sheets.

Disney retains ownerhip of a small percentage of each DVC resort. If the rooms represented by this percentage aren't needed for administrative purposes, they can be rented for cash. Disney retains the revenue.

Any undeclared inventory (representing the rooms that aren't yet sold to members) belong to the developer. These rooms are often rented for cash. That's why there are so many SSR rooms available for cash compared to the other DVC resorts. The revenue from these rooms goes back to the Developer.

Rest assured - If there is a waitlist, any member cancellations will go to waitlist fulfillment.

Best wishes and good luck with your waitlist!

we did get ressie's at OKW, and yes there was availability at SSR. We just love the Boardwalk area and are spoiled with being able to walk/boat to MGM and Epcot.

Have a great day!
