Waitlist odds?

We just grabbed Cruiser for July 6-7 (everyone is really excited!) and now need a place to stay pre-trip. What are the odds that a VGF or BLT 1BD waitlist fills over July 4-5? We have never used the waitlist before. We are booked at Saratoga but would prefer a MK area resort, and WL is no longer available. It’s about 39 days out so I figure if it is going to fill it probably will in the next week or so.

Also is it absolutely insane to think about going into the parks on July 4th? DS wants to do AK in the evening so we were thinking about a couple of rides at Epcot and then hopping over there, but I just don’t know.

I don't know, you might be as high as 50-50, especially since you have 2 options. And you're right - if it's going to happen, it's likely to be in the next week or so, when a cancellation won't mean the owner has to throw their points into holding.

And I expect the parks will be full, but why not plan on it?! How do park reservations look? That might be an indicator. But just something that I notice - you're hoping to stay on the monorail, go to EP, and then hop to AK. It's going to take you some travel time for that combination - you'd likely do 2 monorails to the EP main entrance. Then you'd need to perhaps exit at International Gateway to walk to BC or BW for a bus to AK. Doable, but buses and monorails will also be busy, not just the parks. If you just put in the waitlist, odds are there are already waitlists in front of yours. You have better odds if you stalk the site yourself.

Stalking is the key. We had zero plans for Memorial Day weekend until last Thursday afternoon when my son found out his office was going to be unexpectedly closed to do some electrical work next Tue and Wed.

I get a text, "Hey Mom - what are the chances of finding a 1 or 2 BR DVC room for 5 nights with a weeks notice for a holiday weekend?"

Me - challenge accepted!!! I spent 3 days hitting update over and over on the booking page and not only managed to get a room for every night, we only have to move once! (1 night at Kidani and 4 nights at OKW). Granted, you are looking for a MK resort which will be tougher (though I did see a BLT pop up briefly for one night in my search), but then you have a lot more time than I did .

Stalking works, but you'll need to be persistent. I once snagged an elusive VGC room about 6 weeks out.

VGC 6 weeks out??? Insane.

We saw BLT and BRV pop up earlier this week, so we were hopeful. But as we needed to borrow for the reservation we didn’t want to grab it until we knew about cruiser. Maybe we will get lucky again.

I snagged a VGF theme park view studio at 3:30am via stalking. We reestablished our waitlists but I’m considering calling it good enough and sticking with that.

If you have the time, you have better odds at catching the days by stalking the site. I’ve gotten hard to get reservations like akl value studio and beach club studios this way. And got them before my waitlist came through.

Currently stalking a VGC 2 bed reservation for Aug. First day I got one night I needed, figure I have enough time to keep at it and snag my other night. I also have a waitlist but read stalking was the better way to go and so far, I have to agree.

We don’t want to change rooms so it’s all or nothing (2 nights). I’m happy enough with the studio, and anything else is a bonus at this point.

We are going to have to try this again for marathon Friday.
