Last week I asked all of you, how would we like OKW because that is all we could get for the week of Jan. 9-18th. So much has changed. This is our very first trip as DVC'rs and our home resort is at BCV, but we can't get that (yet). So our second choice is the Boardwalk and we just got our last night that we were waiting for yesterday! So now our entire 10 days is there and our final waitlist is still at the BCV's. So if that never comes through, will we like the BWV's if we can't use Stormalong Bay like I wanted to so much? We are in a 2 bedroom (are used to staying in one room at POR with the 5 of us, was happy with that so can't imagine what a 2 br even looks like :D ). Please tell me we will like it here!! Thanks.

Oh are you in for a treat. POR vs 2 bedroom. Buses to everywhere vs. Boat or walk? You'll be in heaven at BWV.

Have a terrific time.
Sandy

You will love BWV, it is truly one of Disney's crown jewel resorts. So is BCV but I am sure you will be very happy at BWV. Luna Park is not as fantastic as SAB but it is still a very nice pool. For a superior location to major parks, numerous first class restaurants, fireworks etc., you can't beat the Epcot resorts. They are all vacation pampering and luxury to the max.
Have a wonderful trip!

You will find an entirely new accommodation experience...as InstImpres says, you are in for a real treat!!

Community Hall for the kids, a nice pool with a great slide, lots of things to do in the vicinity, entertainers on the Boardwalk, easy walk to EPCOT and reasonable walk to MGM.

Yes, you will love it!

Sandy, Deep and Granny, thank you! It sounds wonderful. I have walked around the area before, but never have we stayed there. I really cannot wait. Can you tell me a little bit about Community Hall? I have three boys, ages 15, 11 and 10. Is that something for my 15 year old?

Community Hall has several video machines and ping pong and I think an air hockey game. They have a TV there and as many videos as you want. I don't know what he likes ,but there is plenty to do on the Boardwalk. Good luck....

The community hall has some video games (free) and a ping pong table and a TV. They do crafts out of there (not suitable for a fifteen year old - but the video games probably are). I only went in to borrow swim vests for the kids and return them - we were too busy the rest of the time.

As the pool goes.....SAB is really cool - but its hard to watch your kids there. Your kids may be old enough that this is not a concern for you - but we really like the BW pool better since we can see our kids from the beach chair (ours are 4 and 5 and we are still in the water with them. Comfort yourself with the next time you go your youngest will be a little older and you'll be a little more comfortable with the maze that is SAB....

We really enjoyed the BW resort and the BW area.

Hey, free video games!! I may not be able to get them out of there. My 11 yr. old DS loves arts and crafts, anything interesting that they do?

teenagers will be fine here - they have a tendency to find other teenagers - the BW is great for that age group.

yes there are crafts for your 11 year old - just check the activities list - it should be on the back on your map - if not - ask for one - sometimes they run out and unless someone checked - no one checking in after that time will get one...

where are you staying - BW preferred, preferred, standard view....

remember this resort does not have a restuarant inside it - these are all along the BW - but they have a great room service. So make sure you have some groceries for those days when you don't feel like runing to a restuarant or getting wet.....

remember DVC members 20% off the restuarants at the D/S.

I agree with everyone else. I think you will love BWV! There is always something going on around the Boardwalk, and the kids will love seeing all the activity going on. We had a wonderful stay there last year for the first time. Can't wait to stay there again in just a few more weeks. I've also stayed a couple times at BCV, and that is wonderful too!

You're in a perfect situation. You have a sure thing at BWV if BCV doesn't come through, and I really think you'll be very happy staying there. If BCV does come through, then that's terrific. Either way, you're in for a fantastic stay! Enjoy! :D

Spicycat, thanks. We are in a preferred 2 br (garden/pool) Are these crafts Mickey related? What are they, something they can hang on the walls of their br?
Travelbug, thank you for the reassurance! I love that whole area, so I know we can't go wrong. I just can't wait to even walk into one of these resorts, as all we have ever seen is the lobby of the BC to use their bathrooms once last trip on the way to ESPN club. And what fancy bathrooms they were!!!!! Oh my gosh. I just said to myself, we'll never be able to stay here. Little did I know, a few months later we joined the DVC and a finally a year later (we couldn't go as DH was out of work) we get to walk into the BC or BW and check in. Who knew? :D

I can't remember what the crafts were and I think they vary alot. I remember that one of the things listed was making a sailor hat. And seed art - I remember Disney seed art. There is a small materials fee for these things. And they happen at a specfic time - the crafts aren't out all the time, they are a scheduled thing.

Everyone has done a good job describing Community Hall, and I'll just add that CH is the place you go to get your free video movie rentals too.

Jillpie,

We're at OKW from Jan 8-16 and I would rather be at BWV, our home resort! Maybe we could switch! tongue: Actually, I really like OKW, and since there will be 8 of us the extra space will come in handy. We all happen to love the BWV though and I hope you have a great time while there. Enjoy "my" lobby -- it's lovely!

Thanks Kristen. Did you try and book BWV first or do you just want OKW for the space?

Oh, you are gonna love it!!! We own at both BCV and BWV and I prefer BWV. Also, it may be a little chilly for swimming so maybe not being at BCV for SAB isn't so bad ;)

We will be there the same time as you in a standard 1 bedroom. I am taking my mom for the first time and I just know she will be blown away (as will you I am sure!)

Jillpie,

Being a planner, I am almost embarrassed to admit this -- I forgot to book at 11 months out. Oh the shame of it! I was able to get all my nights at OKW so instead of waitlisting we just took that. We do enjoy being at OKW we just like the "action" of the boardwalk area more. Let's face it, with DVC you really can't go wrong!

Enjoy!
