Yeah, this is quite different from a specialty popcorn bucket or something like that. But I do think it will go faster than previous DVC resorts.Oh, I can’t imagine anyway that what-at least two million points?-would sell that quickly.
True. But if you look at VGC, the general consensus is that the vast majority of owners there are locals. Demand is so high for VGC, that DVC won't even put you on a waiting list for direct points anymore, and resale points get swallowed up at $285-$300 per point.Yeah, this is quite different from a specialty popcorn bucket or something like that. I agree with everything you said! Heck, I'm on the East coast and would buy in because DLH has nostalgia even for me! I do think it will go quickly, but "hours" just seems impossible. I mean, even just logistically; DVC can't process that many contacts in an hourTrue. But if you look at VGC, the general consensus is that the vast majority of owners there are locals. Granted, many VGC owners poo-poo DLH, and swear they'll never sell their VGC contracts, but there's obviously a HUGE demand to buy into DVC at Disneyland, coupled with the massive available discretionary income in Southern California. Sell contracts at $225-$235 PP, just a 5 minute further walk away from the parks, with the incredible nostalgia that DLH holds for so many here, and I think you see points fly off the shelf in record time.
The only downside may be the heavy emphasis on the "POD" style studio rooms, but as many others have noted, Disneyland Resort isn't a 7-10 day destination, it's a 4-day trip for most, so a smaller studio without a conventional kitchenette may be what the market merits.
Or not. This week, the CMs told us that Anaheim has approved the rezoning for the proposed park extensions.just a 5 minute further walk away from the parks
Yes, they did.Or not. This week, the CMs told us that Anaheim has approved the rezoning for the proposed park extensions.
Forgive me if “hours” triggered folks. I don’t necessarily mean each contract is signed within hours but what I’m saying is the demand is greater than the supply even with the new hotel. I’ve found that the East and west coast market is so different, I feel like I could live like a king in WDW with our points budget but it just doesn’t stretch as far here in California.
thanks so much for that update though. I am glad there isn't info that I'm missing out on. congratulations on Riviera! Do you think you will try to get a contract at the new tower if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks! And yes, we plan to buy a contract at the new tower, just so we can have some 11 mo priority booking at DL. We are way up NorCal (like the ACTUAL NorCal, 12 hrs away) and DLR is our park. We own at Aulani & Riviera, and have never even been to WDW, or Aulani yet, haha… I was just (today) able to book a 2br for 5 nights at VGC again, for us and some friends for next May, so I feel pretty lucky to be able to get reservations there again. It’s pretty stressful to try to get though, and having to wake up at 5am to book isn’t much fun, lol… but the Grand can’t be beat, and we love it so much, so as long as I can, I will keep using our points there. Hopefully we will be able to plan a long vacay to HI or FL soon though, since we have more points now, and I don’t want to end up with more than we use…
Yes that’s legit Nor Cal. This page is making me question if I should try to buy VGC resale & try to get a contract at DLT but I’m just not sure if I feel that brave lol. I’ve never stayed at the grand, the DLH pool seems to fit my kids age a bit better but I do hope to stay soon. I’ve stayed at WDW wilderness lodge and thought that was amazing.

You have never been to WDW and you just bought at RIV???? Oh man, not sure how that makes sense. If you’re going to use the points elsewhere I’d rescind and pick up more resale. Thanks! Be aware that availability at the WDW resorts in the short term (i.e., 3 months or less before checkin) can be very, very limited. Some people, especially those who live near Orlando and can get there in just a few hours, do make it work for short one or two night visits. But trying to plan a week's stay, for example, could mean staying one or two nights here, another night there, etc. DVC, like most timeshares, really is not good if you can't book at least 6 months out, preferably 7 or more. Good luck!We like to just go when we can, really aren’t that picky as to when/where to go, and work around available dates…

I love a good VGC resale contract, but just some consideration on that:
You may not be able to use those resale VGC points at the new DLT Villas. I don't mean the 11 month window. You may not be able to use them at all. Research the last round of restrictions when Riviera came online and you will see the language about new resorts. You may be limited to the original 14 resorts. Of course, they can change it again so there is no way to know for sure. But I think if demand continues... it is a safe bet.
And I'm in same camp:
You will have absolutely no problem buying points at DLT tower when the sales open. You are in touch with a guide and you will have plenty of time. Take whatever virtual/model tours they offer and enjoy the experience & excitement. It will take a while to sell all those points.![]()
Thank you so much! Yes I did consider that about the VGC. I mean i see how it has its downsides for those that travel using all of the DVC resorts but since we have no plans to use DVC points for anywhere but California it doesn't affect us too much. granted my fear is that buying DLT will lend us zero opportunities to stay at VGC using DLT points. One poster on another thread who lives in LA said hes only been able to secure the VGC once for two nights in a row in the 7 month window. that makes me nervous. I wish i had an idea of what point sales are like, the DIS podcast had predictions that DLT would be north of 265.00 which makes me feel like 280.00 for resale GVC is a better use of my money. who knows!
