I made an 7:30 at California Grill when I thought wishes was at 9:00. Well looks like it's emh and wishes is at 8:00. Now I'm very concerned about wait time for our adr. I'm thinking that people will hang out to watch. I called and was told you will not be allowed up even if my adr runs late. I would really think they would let us up to watch from the observation deck, since they allow those to come back after dinning with receipt to watch. Looks like the only other available seating is 5:30. First time at CG, what would you do?

You will be allowed up if you have an ADR. Any waiting time is done upstairs in the restaurant lounge/waiting area.

They have always allowed us up early when we had ADR's--although I must add that usually there is no place to sit!!
Our wait time on Saturday nights is usually ONE HOUR after our scheduled ADR time before we are seated. When you check in on the second floor they will give you a pager and most likely invite you to go up. The pager they give you CAN NOT function if you remain on the second floor!! We found out that the hard way one time when we desided not to go up but just lounge around on the second floor. Our pager never went off!!

I'll leave my ressie as is. I knew the cm was wrong, I called to check on changing times and she said system was down. I told her I had adr for 7:30 and asked if adr was running late would we allowed on the deck to watch wishes and she said no. As I have never been I was under the impression not only did you check in on the 2nd floor, but waited for your adr there also. No more stressing, thanks for the info.

Should add that we always check in early as it is and even then we are "invited" to go up--we usually don't even have to ask.

We have been to California Grill many times over the years and have always been sent up to the restaurant to wait for our table once we have checked in. Perhaps the cast member misunderstood what you were asking. Everyone who dines at California Grill on a given night is invited to see the fireworks from the restaurant. It's Disney, they do anything they can to accommodate guests. You will be able to see the fireworks even if you haven't been seated!

You won't have any trouble going up to watch Wishes - and honestly, I've never waited very long for my table at CG, and we go every trip. YMMV, of course.

Disney will make sure you do not miss the show. Enjoy the meal and the amazing view.:cool1::banana:

Go for the 5:30.

We had ressies at 6 one year and it took an hour to be seated. We hung out in the lounge area in the restuarant, ate and watched the fireworks at 8:00.

The view is far better from the balcony anyway. Be glad they moved the time. Now you can watch the show and then eat and not be disrupted in the middle by the show while your food gets cold. :)
