Wait your turn!! New seating rules for CS restaurants at WDW...

I saw them doing it with my own eyes...believe it or not, it actually worked.
Well if they do that to my family and I, we will complain to Guest Services and say how dumb this rule is. The people who save seats are still going to eat there, they just won't have their food right away. It's like WDW is punishing those who are smart enough to save seats, because a few guests don't like it. If a lot of people complain about this rule WDW will stop it right away.

We had lunch at PB's on the 17th and 24th and they were not doing this. We also had counter service lunch or dinner somewhere in the parks on about 10 days over a 2 week period and none of them were doing this.

As every faithful DISer knows, the weeks before and the weeks after are much, much less crowded than the actual week of the 4th. They are only instituting the policy during extremely busy periods...even for a few extremely busy days at a time.

Disgruntled Hoosiers? Heck no, we just wanted to be different.

Now we shall have to find OTHER ways to do so.:rotfl2:

Now go pick on Arizonians. I think they are the last state with no DST. (could be wrong though)

Slightly Goofy and proud of it :cool1:

The OP stated that you couldn't enter the dining room until you had your food in your hand. Your point is moot. BTW, Earl of Sandwich is not a Disney-owned restaurant :)
So then what you're saying is it does not apply there? If so then there is no problem since that is the only location my family and I save a table at.

Exactly...the CMs at PB's work as "bouncers" of sorts. If you don't have food in your hand, you don't sit down...period.

What about the Resort counter service locations? My family and I always go to Gasparilla Grill & Games at the Grand Floridian and once we order we always save a table, until our food is ready. Plus since they are not a big location there is no way to keep guests away from the seats when you compare it to a location like Cosmic Rays in the Magic Kingdom. BTW Gasparilla's has automatic doors that open, so they can't have a Cast Member standing there because they would never close.

Actually MK is very crowded on EMH days, even if its not the week of the 4th.

Certainly it was crowded enough at PB's on both of those days for there not to be enough seats for everyone. Same was true at Cosmic Ray's on the 30th.

But I didn't say you didn't see what you described. I was only adding some info for those who were wondering how widespread the policy was.

I can't speak to that seeing we only only experienced it at PB's. We mostly do TS, but PB's is one of the very few CS restaurants that we'll eat at, strictly for nostalgia sake. The manager told me that it was running as some sort of trial. I told him they should keep it year round.

I would be very interested to hear how this works in the future. Try to keep an open mind and when you get back let us know how it works out. I have a feeling that there will be plenty of tables and some not all (like people with special needs) will find that they have changed their opinion and find the new process to work just fine.

I dont understand why the lines would be quicker, as far as cashing you out and you getting your food? That has nothing to do with who is sitting where..

but i am glad you had a good experience with this, I am sure only time will tell how well it works.

I didn't read the entire thread but this rule sounds rediculous. Nobody will ever follow this rule or even awknowledge it for that matter. Cast members aren't paid enough to care who saves tables and who doesn't. Even if its a test run it would be very difficult to enforce without offending a large amount of guests. After 35+ years I doubt changing the format like this at one (or more) locations will be effective in long run, if nothing else it will just cause cast members to work even harder, even babysitting seating areas. If this is the case I certainly won't be dining at any counter service locations for a long while.

Just my opinion..

I agree with what you said 100% because you make some valid points. :thumbsup2

I agree with you there, and I don't fully understand why it moves faster, it just does. As we walked up to the doors of PB's, expecting the usual zoo-like lunch rush at PB's, I laughingly said to my wife, "Good lord, are you ready for this?". She shook her head and we entered only to be greeted by 2 hostesses who took the entire positive experience from there. We didn't expect it. I personally never really gave table saving vs. not table saving much of a thought, until we exerienced CS lunch the "right way" on one of the busiest days of the year. It was really shocking how well managed the whole thing was.

No it's like Disney is Rewarding those who do it the correct way!!! And if a lot of people like it-those who played by the rules and didn't save seats- they will keep it.

In all the counter service locations there were never any signs that said please do not save seats until you get you're food. So technically no one was breaking any rules since there never was one.

Kinda like the way so many CMs allow so many guests to line jump, or hand in bogus fastpasses, or let them to stand up on rides and not wear the proper restraints, or allow the guests to take all the merchandise they can carry without paying for it...that kind of stuff? They're not paid enough to simply be responsible to do their jobs? That's what you're saying?

You're comparing Apples and Oranges. What you described are rules which everyone should follow and ones that Cast Members should always enforce. In the past there were no signs in the counter service locations which said please do not save seats until you get you're food, so like I said before the guests were not breaking that rule since WDW never had one like that before.

WDW is going to pay their Cast Members to be the "table police" when guests are doing a lot of worse things and the Cast Members are to afraid to step in, because they don't want to upset them even more. However are going to upset guests who were never doing anything wrong since they never had this rule before.

You might want to reread the last couple posts. I think you're mixing me up with Hannathy. I never said I cared on way or the other before the new system was put in place or that one way was right or wrong. I agree with you that there was never a rule before now, but now there is one and the CMs will enforce it.
