Wait - We're staying Where? and When????

How do you screw up the paperwork on the cars? Seriously, people just don't pay attention.

Hope you are having fun on your quilting trip.

I hope you have a fantastic time on your quilting trip.

My parents came over this weekend to do some garage sales. My mom is a quilter and my dad has made a quilting room for her at every house she has lived in. My mom has floor to ceiling book cases along one of the bedroom walls. All of her material is pressed and folded and stacked into squares. Then she color coordinates it. She really is OCD. Anyway, my dad has told her no more material. She has a couple of bins still that will not fit. She has one wall that is floor to window with shelving. So, we are out at a neighborhood garage sale and I have lost my parents somewhere. I come to one, where the woman quilts. Anyway, she has a bin of fabric, the cotton blend that my mom uses, and she wants $1.00 per plastic grocery bag. So, I go looking for my mom. She is 2 houses down, so I shout for her. She comes over and sees it. She hands me her purse and tells me to distract my dad. :rotfl: You can never have too much fabric. My dad was just . Guess he will have to start working on a bigger room for her fabric.

Sorry for the hijack Tess, but this just made me laugh so hard!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

That story is hilarious! I have a walkin closet in my sewing room that is jam- packed with fabric. Charlie just rolls his eyes and shakes jus head when I come home with bags from Joann.

Hope you get the car situations all settled.. what a PITA!!!! Cleaning? What's that???

Didn't finish the dress last weekend, what with all the cleaning, so I'm taking it with me on my "quilt" retreat.

I feel your pain with the housework. It keeps rearing its ugly head in my life too. Takes way more time than I like.

Here is another example of someone screwing up and you having to jump through all the hoops to get it rectified! How can they be so inept as to put your car in Charlie's name??? Makes you want to scream. When we sold Dan's car last year, the new owner couldn't get a license plate for it b/c the title company said we didn't own the car, the dealership did. So, Dan had to go to the dealership where we bought the car 10 years before and get it straightened out. He had to contact the attorney general of Ohio no less!!! All because of a mistake by the dealership. I mean we had the title for the car, but the paperwork never got filed I guess. Hope yours resolves much easier!!

This whole process has been screwed up and its all the dealership's fault. They switched the tags - instead of putting my tag on my car, they put it on Charlie's car, so there was additional paperwork to transfer the tags - instead of just doing it right in the beginning. That started the process of getting the name wrong on the title. The woman at the dealership admitted it was her fault. Then there was the fiasco with the spare key. I was supposed to get a spare key when we picked up the cars, but the dealer didn't have one. Why they didn't just program one while we were sitting there for 2 hours is beyond me and the excuse I got was that we needed to make an appointment to have the key made. How would I know I needed to make an appointment BEFORE I got the car???? Anyway, I was not going to take 2 hours off work to go back to that dealer to get a key made, so they told me to take it to another Ford dealer. Ok, so I called the local dealership, made an appointment for that afternoon, after work. I got an estimate from them and it was about $92. Unfortunately, the guy I talked to misunderstood me and thought I had a 2005 Focus. My car is a 2012, so the actual price for the key was $234!!!!!:faint: I sent the invoice to the original dealership for reimbursement. I better have a check waiting for me when I get home next week or else.

I can't wait to see Meg's dress! She is going to flip out for sure. So is Mo for that matter!

I hope you have a ton of fun on your quilting trip. How long does it take you to get there? I'm sure your ladies will not care what you work on while you're there. Sounds like a great group of friends!

I'm all packed and ready to go! It will take me about 6 hours to get to my friend's house south of Knoxville. On Sunday morning we will head over to Cosby (in the Smokey Mtns) which is about an hour from my friend's house.[

I'm up for a sewing get-together whenever you want to! Have sewing machine, will travel!:thumbsup2:grouphug:/COLOR]

Well, time to get Dan's breakfast and then pack his lunch. He's lucky to get a lunch at his desk these days, never mind going anywhere. He's one busy guy!! Have a wonderful day!

Excited for your quilting trip! Can't wait to hear all about it!

How do you screw up the paperwork on the cars? Seriously, people just don't pay attention.

Hope you are having fun on your quilting trip.

Getting ready to leave at o'dark thirty tomorrow!

Okay, so some other news - someone asked about Kat - she is doing fantastically!!!! Still is undergoing PT, and living at Walter Reed, but they actually had her out driving off base this week. She said she didn't freak out, so I guess that's good????

Jim was supposed to settle on his new house today, but I haven't talked to him since Tuesday, so I'm not sure about this. I know he is anxious to get into his own place. His "stuff" that he had shipped from Hawaii has been in storage for about a month, so I know he is ready to get that delivered. Also, he hasn't been able to buy a car, or get his PA license, since the paperwork he needs to get a new license is in his safe. Apparently now you need to have your birth certificate to get a license... He has been borrowing my brother's pickup truck, but I know he is ready to give it back - it inhales gasoline.

Disney news!!! Charlie and I finally decided on costumes for MNSSHP - we are going to be.....................

and

Woody & Jessie

Woody and Jesse!!!! Fun and perfect! Can't wait to see what you do with the costumes!!

Oh my GOODNESS HOW CUTE!!!! Jesse and Woody! You guys are going to be so adorable!!!!! I just love this idea!!!

I'm joining in for the ride! Must go back and read it all, now! :cool1:

Welcomepixiedust:!

I'm having fun at the quilting retreat, but I haven't done any quilting yet, or at least not much. Finishing up some other projects I have going on. Meg's dress just needs the drape around the shoulders, but I left that fabric home :confused3, and ribbon roses and it is finished. Finished up pillowcases for Terri's girls and worked on a row by row that that group did.

I'm looking forward to working on the Woody & Jessie costumes when I get home.

Can't believe how badly the dealership screwed things up including the key! Takes talent!

I'm glad to hear about Kat doing so well. I can imagine how anxious Jim is to get settled in. I didn't realize he wasn't in his home yet. I'm glad it's getting closer for him to get situated in all matters.

Woody and Jesse!!! That will be awesome. And not too hot either. And won't hamper you on rides. Those are my criteria when selecting outfits. I know you're glad to finally have that decision made!

I'm glad you're having fun at the quilting fest. I'm heading over to FB to see if you have any pics over there. Enjoy the rest of your time there!

Ohhhhhhh I know this is going to be JUST BEAUTIFUL!!!! :lovestruc  :cloud9:

I really cannot wait to see your costumes.. this is going to be EPIC!!! I love everything!!!

So glad you had a great time with your quilting friends! hope you took lots of pictures you don't post.... :rolleyes1

Love ya!!! Miss you.. Did you know i will see you SOON!!!!

Here is a very brief trip report on my quilting week.

I left home at 5:30 am on Saturday morning, drove all day to my friend Sandy's house in Loudon, TN, which is southwest of Knoxville. Been there so many times, I didn't even need to use my GPS to find it.. Played with her animals (she lives on 8 acres, has 3 cats, 1 dog and 3 horses), picked blueberries - omg if you have never had blueberries fresh off the bush, you don't know what you are missing. The store-bought ones are nasty compared to these! Had dinner with Sandy, her husband Bob and her Mama, Carol. Waited for another member of our group to arrive - Kala - she finally got there about 9 pm. By that time I was so tired, I went to bed. We had planned to leave by 9 am to head to Cosby, TN where the quilt retreat house is located - east of Sevierville, if you've ever been to East Tennessee. I rolled out of bed at 8:45 - must have been really tired. We got to Holloway's (the retreat place) about 11 am. Everyone started showing up around the same time. We unloaded the cars, claimed our beds and our sewing tables and got right down to sewing. After all, we only had a week!

Except for Lynda, Kala and I, who went to Walmart to buy groceries. Had to get all the perishables and staples for the first few days.

I have not yet downloaded my pictures, but I promise I will do that one night this week. I have pictures of all of my friends and most of the projects they worked on.

As I posted earlier, I finished up the crinoline and slip for under Meg's Belle dress, added the zipper and hemmed it, but I left the netting for the drape across her arms at home, so I could not finish it. I must have watched 1600 youtube videos on how to make a ribbon rose, but I just was not getting it, so I set the ribbon aside too. I guess not having my glue gun did not help either.

I set up my embroidery machine and made 2 pillowcases for Terri's girls (as I also said earlier). They are ready to be mailed out, but it won't be tomorrow. I'm not going to be able to get to the PO before work and Charlie has to go to his "other" job and won't be able to go to the PO for me either.

I chose to make dinner the first evening, so I needed to get moving on making my taco salad - easy peasy meal. There really is no place inside for 10 people to eat, except at our sewing tables, so that's what we did. Then came the storm warnings. Tornado warnings! :scared1:We turned on the tv to watch the weather report - it seemed like the line of severe thunderstorms were headed right toward us. Every single one of our phones went off with severe weather alerts. We were warned to head for shelter, except we really didn't have anywhere to go - we later found out there is a storm cellar under the house, but we did not know that at the time. Decided we would all gather in one of the bedrooms and put the mattresses up against the windows, once the storm reached us.

Luckily, the worst of the weather passed to our south, so we really only got rain and a lightning show off to the south.

Since we were so concerned about the weather, and since we did not have a large enough space for everyone to gather around, we didn't play any of our games that night.

Monday.....

I decided to make a shoulder bag themed for Animal Kingdom, so I worked on that for part of the day. Then Gloria came up with a bright idea.

There is a national row-by-row campaign where you pick up a pattern for a quilt row in participating stores. Each store gives a prize to the first person who completes and turns in a quilt with at least 8 rows. So you know where this is going, right?

Yep, Gloria and a number of the other ladies had stopped at quilt shops in Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia and picked up patterns for various rows. Just so happens that the quilt shop next door to the retreat house (convenient right?) was also participating, and no one had won the prize, which was 25 fat quarters (a quarter yard of fabric) and a rechargeable iron.

Gloria decides that we can each do a row, quilt and bind a quilt and turn it in the next day. 8 of us picked a row to work on and put them up on the design board as we finished. There did not seem to be any rhyme or reason to the rows, but Gloria said the theme was the four seasons. Ok, it made a bit of sense, but it was still one ugly group of rows. We moved those rows around at least 10 times before we decided on a layout, but then we needed corner stones for the 4 corners. It was decided I would use my embroidery machine and stitch out some blocks for the corners. Once the corner stones were added it didn't look too bad!

So the rows were finished - did it get quilted and binding added?????

Stay tuned for the next episode.................

A week away with your friends doing fun projects sounds so FUN and FANTASTIC!! SO glad you got to go do this!!!

Man o man! How scary with the storm warnings!! EEEEP! :scared: I would be scared!!!! Glad you were all safe and no crazy weather!!

SQUEEEE! So excited for pillowcases!! No rush on mailing anything bc the girls will def be putting these in "the box" to stay nice until our trip so they can get them signed! I didn't tell them about these at all so they are going to be SO surprised to get them in the mail! You are too sweet for spreading the pixie dust like this for so many!! Such a sweetheart!! :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

Oh man! A CLIFFHANGER!!! What!?!?!?! How mean to leave us hanging like that!!! You've been reading too many of Mo's posts.... :rotfl:

Can't wait for you to get pics uploaded!!! :bitelip:

That is just so annoying and frustrating about your cars Tess.

Glad to hear that Kat is doing well.

Yay for all the fun stuff you made at the quilting retreat- can't wait to see it all! Sounds like you had a great time! Are you home yet?

And I love your idea for costumes!!! Right up my alley!!! You know I :lovestruc Toy Story! Can't wait to see pictures of this!

D~

WOW! That's so scary about the storms! I am so glad your OK!!!!

How fun to go somewhere for a week for your creativity! i almost went on a scrapbooking cruise once. But unforeseen circumstances came along and squashed that. but how fun!

I can't wait to hear how it turned out...

Of course i had to laugh at the:
"I have not yet downloaded my pictures, but I promise I will do that one night this week. I have pictures of all of my friends and most of the projects they worked on."

I've heard this before....

What a fun trip so far…excluding the scare of the storms of course!! That sounds like my kind of trip. So neat to have a quilt shop right next door. And no fair on the cliff-hanger! Between Mo and D~ and now you, I have to keep coming back to get the rest of the story!!:surfweb: (yeah, like I wouldn't be here most days anyway, right???)

Your trip is coming up so fast now! It won't be long and you'll be on the road. Again. Song title? Anyway, are you hard at work on your costumes for MNSSHP? I cannot wait to see what you come up with for Jessie and Woody. I know they'll be awesome.

Well, I have to scoot and get to my massage. Hope you have a great day and rest of the week!:goodvibes

I need to find my camera.....

I will get back to the cliffhanger, but I want to post pictures too and I can't find my camera.:sad1:

On the Disney Front....

Both sets of our magic bands came on Saturday - YAY!!! We now have 4 sets of bands :joker:

We also decided to add the Frozen premium package if it was available for one of the days we are at HS - and it was! Charlie can't wait to do the sing-along....we may be the only ones left in the room once we start singing. For all the talent that my kids have, I have none - as in N.O.N.E. I can't even carry a tune in a bucket.....

Also, I decided that I want a cake for my birthday, but almost all of the cakes would be way to much for us, so I plan to share my cake - we have ressies at Biergarten on my birthday and who ever shares the table with us will be treated to some birthday cake. I hope they want some....:rotfl: I still have to order the cake, but will do that one day this week or next.

I haven't updated much because we have been gone most evenings - my brother called last week and asked if we wanted tickets to the Raven's preseason game on Thursday, so of course I said yes. Then Friday, we had tickets to the Orioles game - it was the 60th anniversary celebration of the Orioles move from St. Louis to Baltimore - and we were playing the St. Louis Cardinals.....It was an all around awesome evening. My cousin and her husband, who is a big Cards fan, were in town from New Orleans for the weekend and I got to see them - haven't seen my cousin in years. I also got a foul ball, which I promptly gave to a kid sitting behind me.

Then we went to the Orioles game on Monday.,, No more games now until we get back from magic land.

I spent the entire weekend in my sewing room. I have Charlie's Woody shirt finished except for the buttons. I bought the wrong color and had to go back on Tuesday and get yellow buttons. Not sure what I was thinking there.

Then.......last year I know that I bought cow print fabric, but I'll be darned if I can find it. I KNOW its in my sewing room somewhere....so I had to go buy more:crazy2: Now I know I will find it. I finished 2 more t-shirts - these are for our Universal days. I also ordered a couple pairs of shorts that I needed. Once they come and I find my camera, I'll take pictures of our outfits. I don't have any fancy headgear like D~, mainly because I need to wear a hat with a brim, but I do have a couple of pairs of ears.

Yay!! I absolutely can not wait to see pics of the woody shirt! I hope you ind your fabric, lol, though a trip to the fabric store is never a bad thing! ;)

How fun with all the baseball games! I've been seeing your photos on FB!

Arg, still leaving us hanging on the cliffy! :)
