The Walking Thread

So whats up in your area for shoes. Locally OC California, Hoku is out, On is in. I wear sketchers because the step in is the greatest invention ever, but most everyone else is wearing Ons.

TiggerTigger, you are not alone! I have been there. I'm sorry that you are experiencing this. I know it's hard to eat when you are so stressed. Try to find things that pack nutrition in smaller quantities. It does help. I had to take care of my mom while I was dealing with all that. I will put you in my prayers and send you positive energy.

It was wet, breezy, and 45 degrees today. It was cold. But I layered up and walked. I was by myself self today so I was able to walk the speed I wanted. I only did 2 miles, but they were both 15 minute miles! I'm sure I will pay for that tomorrow.

It was so cold that even the dandelions didn't want to be open. Very few open today.

For me, I get fitted at a run shop. I wouldn’t go with trends unless it’s a lifestyle sneaker to wear casually. So, it’s what’s recommended based on my foot mapping, wear patterns, needs/uses and comfort during store testing on the treadmill. The Brooks Glycerin is traditionally a safe bet for me, but my newer speed shoes are ASICS Superblast 3s and my trail runners are New Balance Fresh Foams.

I have tried the Hoka Bondi and the Hoka Clifton and I’m not a fan of either. I see a lot of people wearing On at the gym and my kids wear them as casual everyday shoes but I haven’t seen a lot of them on people on our trails or at races.

While six of these pairs are in rotation and a seventh is for specialized use (the trail runners), this is currently everything I have that theoretically “could” be taken out for some miles. I would probably regret it with the older ones, but I keep them around because they still have tread life.
