Hey everyone,
So we are going to WDW for 4 days. Its me, my boyfriend, his twin(first time), and their friend. We live in Louisiana and we're driving and leaving on November 24 at about 8pm; it takes about 10-12 hours to get there. So after driving through the night the boys insist on going to Hollywood studios for opening at 9am! I don't know if itsounds as crazy as I think it is but we will be driving all night and going straight to a park. Talk about exhausted. I tried to see I they would want to sleep but they say they will be to excited..20 year olds. Haha. I am excited to go and do the park though.
Does anyone know how Hollywood studios is on thanksgiving? Do touthknk they will reach capacity?
We do plan on buying our tickets online and having them sent to us so that will save time.

To me, DHS always seems packed. The only park that never seems busy is Epcot, but that's just because it's so huge.

If you can get there by opening time you should be fine. There's lots of shows at the studios so you could potentially get a nap in (if you can sleep through loud noises).

Good luck- sounds like a story that will turn into family legend!

Think of it this way, it would be better to go to a park early actually be able ride some stuff before it got packed and then go back to the hotel and sleep.

Versus getting some sleep and then hitting an already packed park in the afternoon.

Yea I thunk I will be able to do it all because I love Disney I just hope we aren't to exhausted.do you think if we left the park at like 2 to go to the hotel that we would not be able to get back in due to capacity?

I don't think I have ever heard of any park closing to capacity on Thanksgiving not even the MK.

Also do you really think you would want to go back to a park? At 2 PM you will have been up for maybe over 30 hours. I think you will need more than just a quick nap. I would go back to the room and get to bed early so you can hit RD the next morning. If you just rested a little and then went back out you will most likely just mess up the next day and may never get back on track.

Who is actually driving? Them or you. If you are taking shifts offer to do the first one. Then you can sleep durring the rest of the trip. If they are crazy enough to go without sleep you don't have to.

Yeah, it's pretty rare for parks to close on Thanksgiving, but I bet it has happened. As a local, I've hopped in there in recent past to take a walk around Epcot, or ride a few rides at MK, and it didn't seem terribly crowded.

Best of luck to you. I'd recommend 5 Hour Energy for yourself and fellow travelers if you're pulling an overnight drive followed by a mad rush into DHS. Getting in there in the morning at rope drop is akin to being part of a stampede of bovines (usually over to the Toy Story Mania ride). You'll need to be lucid and somewhat full of energy to make your way through that herd safely. :lmao:

We are taking shifts driving I am the last one though. And as for napping the whole day we only have a one day ticket for thanksgiving. I know that our plan is to run to TSM like everyone else to get fastpasses. I think it will be a long and interesting day. Does HS do anything special for thanksgiving?

Sounds like a good time! Wish I was young enough to do that stuff still. I've done similar trips like that before... our strategy was always to start drinking Red Bull from the time we get in the vehicle.

So if its only for one day I say kill yourself :).

Get there early and stay until they kick you out. You can sleep when you are dead.

Hello fellow Cajun!!! My claim to fame was an all-nighter.. and then a visit to DTD followed by a 9 pm showing of "Up" when it first came out... I handled it no problem..

Have a great time!!!

My family did something similar last year. We left NJ around 4pm on Halloween and drove straight through to Disney. The kids of course slept, although the baby had a hard time and we ended up taking turns with her sleeping on our laps (she was 2 at the time, and she's large for her age so it was tough). We arrived around 7:30am, checked in and went to breakfast and then Target to pick up some stuff. We were waiting for our room to be ready (we rented a THV for the week) and didn't get into our room until almost 1:30. My friend drove up from the Clearwater area for the day, so she arrived around 2:00, so I got in a quick shower before she arrived and then was up the rest of the day. Nobody napped that day, we left around 5:00 for MNSSHP and stayed out until about midnight. It was a very very long day. But it was a blast and I'd do it again in a heart beat!! :rotfl:

The worst crowd I've ever encountered on any of our trips was at the MK on Thanksgiving Day in 1997. Fantasyland was shoulder-to-shoulder; you could only move in whatever direction the crowd was going. When we finally decided to get on the now-gone Skyway, there was a 40-minute wait just for that. I don't know if the park closed that day, but it felt like it should have!

hello fellow louisianian! i say go for it. it sounds like a great idea. who needs sleep when you have the excitment of WDW at your finger tips. thanksgiving day is super busy at all parks. ge tthere at opening and have a great time!
:goodvibes:cool1::thumbsup2

you know, i say this sounds crazy BUT we did this one time during the day when our room wasn't ready @ pop and we all changed clothes in the parking lot at the hotel and jumped on the bus and headed to MK. we didn't care, we were all so excited to be there. have fun!

We usually drive thru the nite and hit a park right at opening. Usually for us we are excited about being there and the adrenaline or whatever kind of kicks in and we don't feel sleepy at all. We usually start getting fairly tired after lunch and will usually leave the park about two or so. Then we go to the room and get upacked, have supper usually at the resort, and go to bed early that nite.

If someone told you there was a free crawfish boil on your arrival day, well they were just pulling your leg :rotfl2: couillion.

From one Cajun to another, I say go for it (until u can"t go no mo). The adrenelin kicks in when you pull in the parking lot. Of course, it only lasts about 2 hours but that"s a good start.

Oh and we will miss you by one day... we leave on the 23rd. Pass youssef a good time!!!

I don't care how tired I am, as soon as I pass under the WDW sign, all signs of sleepiness seem to float away!:cloud9:
