Wait list while crossing use years question

We had a trip in Nov/Dec staying at BLT. We like to try to stay at BCV or BWV for a few days during these trips. This morning starts the 7 month window. Since we have a Dec use yr, we could only book the first two nights at BWV. There weren't any more nights available at the time but we wouldn't have been to book them anyway since it crossing the use yr. I called MS to (a) drop the two nights at BLT and (b) I also asked in I could set up a wait list for two more days at BWV. I was told no, I have to wait until the 7 month window opens. I was told IF I hadn't booked those first two days on my own, then I would have been to have a waitlist to extend the reservation.

Is this correct? Is it worth another call to MS?

I'm not sure if you could have waitlisted the whole reservation since it crosses your use year, but I think that's irrelevant.

If you waitlisted the whole stay, you wouldn't have been able to lock up the first two nights. A waitlist doesn't pull anything out of inventory until it's filled.

MS can book and cross UY's so I'd guess they also could have set up a waitlist to do the same. But it makes more sense to take what is already there and then set up the waitlist when you can - or keep and eye and if they open up in the next day or two then you can call MS and have them extend the existing reservation.

I had two reservations for BLT. One for 7 nights and one for 3 nights and she asked why I had two. I explained booking the room online I could only do 7 days. She was going to link them. She put me on hold for several mins, came back and left again. Since she has such trouble doing that, I wanted to make sure the wait list issue wasn't just something she didn't understand.

That doesn't necessarily mean she was having trouble their systems are running massively slow at the moment. She could just have been struggling with a non responding computer.
