Hey everyone,

Why can't/won't MS tell you how far down you are on a waitlist. I had to waitlist recently and was told that she could not provide me with that information. I would think it is a simply thing to check, even if it is for that one point in time, and that it would be a valuable piece of information in your overall booking plans. Stick with the wait list or just go with plan "B".

Thanks

Because waitlist lengths are different. Some people are waitlisting the entire week. Some two nights, some one night.

So if one night comes through, someone with the one night waitlist gets it. If four nights come through someone with a four night waitlist gets it. If no one has a four night waitlist, someone with three, two or one might get it.

There would be no way to really know since as mentioned, waitlists are for different nights and they do not hold rooms for a partial match. So, if you are waiting on 5 nights and I am only waitiing on two of the nights you want, even if I put in my waitlist months after you, I'd get my room first if rooms became available as they could completely fill mine and not your's.

That is why fewer night waitlists are easier to fill than long ones.

Thanks Deb & Bill and Sandisw for the enlightenment, I never even considered the length of stay being a big factor. The good news is that my wait list is for only 3 nights, the bad news is it is for Friday-Sunday..... in October(as in this October). So there is a glimmer of hope!

If I were you I would still check daily and if 1 or more of your nights are available grab them. They will only match your wait list if those 3 nights become available. The downside of this is that if you amend your waitlist you will fall to the bottom of the list.

Good luck!
