Wait list entire stay or just missing nights?

I have a waitlist for 2br at either BLT or BCV, both have units available for that week except for the Wed and Thurs (Feb break).

Do I have a better chance of getting the unit if I book the available nights now and wait listing the remaining 2 nights or just wait for the entire week to come through?

I should mention that I'd wouldn't want to move resorts for 2 nights than back to the original.

well - you have a better chance of getting just two nights than an entire week, but that doesn't mean you will. If you reserve the rest of it, leaving those two on a wait list in lieu of booking a guaranteed week at a different resort - you may wind up stuck moving twice! I personally wouldn't do it.
I'd book a definite week elsewhere and wait list the whole week there.

I agree. I'm not a fan of switching resorts and to do it twice would not make me happy. I only waitlist an entire vacation.

My experience.

Traveling to WDW Aug. 22-28 staying at OKW. When I first booked a month ago only 24-28 (Sun-Thur) was available. I booked it and waitlisted 22-24 (Fri-Sun). Made separate two night res. at All Star Music. Last week the waitlist came through, they hooked all my days together so now my stay shows 22-28. I called and cancelled ASMu.

If you're open to moving just once, book as many consecutive nights as you can get at either the start or end of your trip. Then book another resort for the missing segment and wait list preferred destination.

Fact is you can never, ever, ever count on a wait list request being filled. Every wait list success requires a cancellation...and that's assuming you're first in line for the cancellation.

Certainly people have used the wait list successfully and I'm not going to tell you that just waiting for the 2 nights wouldn't work. But it's not a 100% guarantee. Perhaps not even 75% or 50%. What would you do if the nights did NOT come through on the wait list? :confused3

I had the same issue when booking at Aulani. I had the first 2 nights and the last two nights. The middle night was not available. So made 2 reservations using points to cover the 2 block of days. Then I submitted for waitlist on the missing night. As a back up, I also made regular expedia reservation for that night. So at least I would be at the same hotel, but might have to change rooms. So my wait list came through and got the day. Disney then combined the 2 original reservations and this new 1 night one into a 5 night single reservation automatically for me. I was able to cancel expedia without penalty as that is the Aulani cancellation policy. If I didn't get the last day, I was hoping the resort would not force us to change rooms. But I don't know if they would or not. I agree with the previous submissions in that getting a single night from waitlist is more likely than a 5 or more nights.
