We are new DVC members :woohoo: (we bought a small BCV resale earlier this year) and I made reservations for our first stay at home this Oct for a studio Sat-Mon since my DS usually gets a 4-day weekend the second weekend in Oct. Well, what do you know, they switched the 4 day weekend to the following weekend

So, here's my dilemma. The only resorts available for all 3 nights (Sat-Mon) is OWK and SSR, which I am not really interested in for our first stay. I had my heart set on either BCV or BLT. MS did have the 1st and 3rd nights available at BCV, but not the 2nd night. Would it be be better to go ahead and book those two non-consecutive nights and just waitlist for the 2nd night, or should I waitlist the entire 3 night stay and reserve OKW or SSR as a back-up?

I really don't want to switch resorts three times, but I'm also thinking if the rooms are available those two nights, I should go ahead and lock those in and assume the waitlist will come through.

What do you all think? I'm so stressed I'm just not sure what to do! Please help! Thanks! :goodvibes

I don't have any helpful advice for you, sorry! I am in the same kind of situation. Trying to book 9 nights at the end of October / early November. Called at exactly 7 months out (we already were booked at our home resort and wanted to switch). I could get 7 of the 9 nights, but there were 2 right in the middle that I couldn't get. We decided not to chance it (I HATE moving hotels in the middle of a trip, I like to unpack and stay unpacked). I went on the waitlist for the whole 9 nights but I know the liklihood of getting that is very slim. Still, we were able to switch to the new Bay Lake Tower - more points, but we're excited to stay there! I figure if the Beach Club comes through, awesome, but if not, I've got a fabulous back-up!

Good luck choosing, I think you could probably always switch over to Saratoga or Old Key West for the whole 3 nights at some point if you don't get the middle one at BCV (or you could jump each night if that's what you want, too!).

You could always book that middle night using cash at BCV and also waitlist it. I'm sure you can get a cash reservation for that night. If your waitlist comes through you could just cancel the one night cash ressie. If the waitlist doesn't come through you won't have to switch resorts. I'm curious because the second weekend in October is the Columbus Day Holiday, October 12th, and you have said this is not the weekend your DS has off?

No, for some reason they get off the 16th and 19th, but not Columbus Day. :headache: I even went and looked at the calendar again just to double-check!

I hadn't thought about doing a cash ressie for the middle night. That's an interesting idea! I think I'll go look up the rate for BC now...

Since you are only staying for 3 nights, I personnally would not book the first night at BCV, middle night at SSR/OKW and third night at BCV. If your waitlist never came through, then you would be moving resorts every day. Instead I would do one of 2 things:
1) Book either OKW or SSR and waitlist for BCV
2) Book BCV using a cash reservation for the middle night plus waitlist for the middle night.

I too would book the two nights using points, waitlist the middle night and try to get the cash reservation.

Don't forget to fnd out if they have it available at a member discounted cash rate.

If you have an AP that might also have discounted rooms available. One of my trips last year at BCV I did exactly this - didn't have to move all the reservations got linked together but I can't remember who helped me do this since some were booked through CRO (AP discount - MS can't do this) and some through MS. The wierd thing was the two nights at the AP rate had maid service so I didn't have to worry about trash & towel.

Good luck I hope it all works out for you.

Thanks for the advice everyone! :goodvibes I called MS today, and now the two non-consecutive nights aren't available! Oh well. So now I'm trying to decide if I can convince my DH to go on an adult's only trip with just the two of us on our original dates, or if we should change our dates to OKW or SSR and hope that our waitlist comes through! Ah, decisions, decisions! :confused3

Thanks again for everyone's input!

I know that I would book OKW or SSR and waitist for whichever you would prefer more only if you wouldn't be "dreading" the trip because it wasn't in BCV for BLT.

OKW and SSR are each lovely resorts, even though neither would be my first choice, I would jump:banana:at a chance to spend 3 nights in either with my family for our next trip home to DVC!!!

There should be plenty of years left to enjoy your BCV home! I'm sorry that the calendar changed so radically.

I think one of the advantages of OKW (I've only stayed in a 2bdrm there) is that it is the only resort that truly has 2 people jacuzzis. That can be the beginning of a really nice romantic evening.

Good to know! :thumbsup2 Is that only for 1-br and larger rooms, or does that apply to studios also?
