Wait for the boat from the MK to WL?

How bad is the wait for the boat from the MK to the WL after Wishes? We are staying at ASMo, but are planning on eating dinner at WCC and then taking the boat over to the MK to watch Spectro and Wishes. We will have our car since we are driving, so I'm trying to decided which of the following would be easier.

1. Drive to WL before dinner. Take boat to MK for evening. After Wishes, take boat back to WL and then drive to ASMo.

2. Get to WL by boat or bus depending on where we are coming from. Take bus directly back to ASMo after Wishes.

I know the wait for a bus to ASMo will be bad, so which do you think will be easier? We will be there in Sept.

The wait for the WL boats after Wishes can be quite long. Typically, you might have to wait for a boat or two to fill up and leave before being able to board a boat. I'd budget about 35-40 minutes for this trip, at least. So if you think you'd save time by parking at WL, then driving back after taking the return boat back to WL, that just won't happen.

However, your 2nd option isn't too bad. You can easily eat at WCC, then take the boat over to MK, since it's not nearly as crowded going to MK as coming back to WL from it. But after Wishes, I'd definitely just ride the bus back to ASMo. Also, driving is out of the picture in this 2nd option, which is a good thing in this case. Trying to get to your car after Wishes can be trying at best. Don't forget all those people have to cram onto the ferry or monorail to the TTC, then ride those trams to the parking areas. Yikes. Better to just take the bus, even if you have to wait for a 2nd or 3rd one.

My recent experience has been that WDW Transportation has been doing a great job for the All-Star Resorts.I stayed at All-Star Sports in July and they would have two and sometimes three buses waiting at the All-Star Resorts bus stop after IllumiNations at Epcot.I didn't ever leave immediately after Wishes at MK,but hopefully they are doing the same thing there.
