Waffle Maker??

My hubby just bought my a Waffle Maker for Valentine's day since i've wanted one for a long time...well he gives me the receipt and it's $80!!! It's a Waring Pro.

To those that own waffle makers, is there any brands that are just as good for half the price? I've never owned a waffle maker so I don't know what to look for exactly?? Or should I just hold on to this one??

I have a Mickey Waffle Maker. It was sold at Sears for about $80 or so quite a few years ago. I got mine from Liquidation World for $10. I should have bought more as it's great and I would love to have a spare if this one dies.

I have had it for about 3 years and have been making waffles at least once a month the first year and now I have been making them more often as my niece is lactose intollerant so I have been making them for her.

My parents have had a waffle iron for quite a lot longer, theirs has for smaller hearts that make one large waffle (can easily be broken into 4 smaller waffles). That one chirps when the waffle is done-mine just has a light that goes out.

If I could change one thing about the one I have it would be to have a chirp or some noice when the waffle is done.

We have the Warning Pro. I gave it to my husband for Christmas over 9 years ago and I paid $80. It has held up and it's in perfect shape now. We use it all the time and it's well worth the money. Don't take it back. Keep it and use it and enjoy. It makes great waffles and will last a long time.

I have a Cuisinart belgian waffle maker that I purchased at Macy's last year for less than $50. It was on sale, and with the coupon that they seem to run nearly every week, the retail price dropped nearly $40.

I think that the Cuisinart brand is reputable and I've been happy with all of my purchases from the brand. However, I haven't heard or read anything but good things about the Waring Pro...it's likely well worth the price tag!

I have a Waring Pro that I've owned for years now and love it. Wouldn't buy any other brand. I agree, keep it and love it!

I have an Oster flip waffle maker that we got on Black Friday for about $9. We love it and it makes great waffles. Can't imagine that an $80 one is 9 times better than what I have.

Waffles are a religious experience for dh. We bought a few cheap waffle irons that did not work well, and evenually bought a Cuisinart that cost around $80. I was not happy about the price, but it does make great waffles, and I figure it's about the same as going out for brunch a couple of times.

Once you use the Waring pro you won't want to use any other. It costs $80 because it's the best! I say keep it and use it happily.

I am cheap and I will stand by my decision to buy an expensive waffle iron til the end! It is so worth it. Not only will each waffle cook properly, it will last forever (or at least a really long time). One at half that price will be disappointing!

Plus, I'm really not an advocate of second-guessing gifts from husbands unless we really can't afford whatever we got. Unless you really can't afford it, I'd say it's worth $40 to leave the situation where DH thinks he got you something perfect.

I have a waffle maker and I know it was quite a bit less than $80. It works fine. This is my thought. Your DH was lovely and thoughtful enough to buy you a gift and he knows you wanted one of these for a long time. I am sure he stood there in front of all the waffle makers and was clueless (if he is anything like my DH is!) and decided a more expensive model has to do the trick. My 2 cents is to be a gracious gift receiver of the gift your DH took the time to shop for and keep it and proudly use it. When you use it tell him how much you love it and love him. This is one of those times when you hold your nose about the price, IMHO.
