I'm 48 years old and have been to lots and lots of weddings but the one I attended today really was the wackiest one ever. First off it was my SIL's BIL's wedding (her husbands brother). The wedding ceremony was a 1pm and was 45 minutes from where I live. DH and I decided to skip the ceremony and go the the reception since he worked until 5;30am and wanted to sleep a bit longer. Here is where it got strange. The invite said "adult reception immediately following in the church hall, "address" ,dinner is at 5:30.
So reading this we all assumed (including my SIL) that since it was afternoon they were reversing the reception. We would have drinks and dancing then dinner and coktail hour after dinner. NOT what happened! from 2-5:30 we sat around the church hall with cheese and crackers and warm beer cause it wasn't cold yet! People that lived close by went home after the ceremony. We got there about 10 minutes after ceremony ended, there were maybe 20 people there. The table set up was enough for 80 people, but only half the tables had table set up for dinner. there were no reserved table for family of the groom, only the bride. Big shock of the day though, 45, yes 45 extra guests showed up! They did not RSVP! So dinner was delayed an hour while extra tables were set up. Food had to be stretched to accomodate all the extras. It was really funny when an announcement was made that stated "dinner is delayed a bit because we have 45 guests show up they didn't respond" I felt so sorry for the bride and the kitchen staff. The toast to the bride and groom was made halfway through dinner kind of like an OOps I forgot type thing. Poor bride was in the bathroom crying at one point.
MOB (Mom of Bride) approaches MOG after dinner and demands to know whcih of HER family didn't RSVP. Grooms side had exactly 20n people there, all the rest were brides side. Everyone from Grooms side was there and had responded. Grooms aunt and uncle volunteered to leave before dinner since there ws so many extras, but they were convinced to stay since they HAD sent in their card.
Honeymoon for this couple is WDW! Hope it is planned better than the wedding which means hopefully her Mom had no say at all in the honeymoon plans.

45 extra people!!!!! Lets see you figure anywhere from $30 and up a head for dinner only. Hmmm no problem I just happen to have an extra $2000 in my pocket.
I am planning my DD's wedding and if that happened to me I would have a stroke. Curious where was the reception held? I am from your area and I just cannot see that happening at the banquet facility I booked.
After all we are inviting over 200 guests at this point.
Hopefully her honeymoon will go smoothly. It really can't get much worse than the reception. Here's a little pixie dust for them just in case.
of which you had to dodge the cow patties again..
Must be a relative of the one we are going to.
