Wackiest wedding tonight

Anyone who knows me knows how I feel about RVSP's (respond, dammit!!!)

If that were my wedding, I would have served the guests that replied and told the others that there's a KFC at the corner if they're hungry. OK, OK I wouldn't do that, but it's tempting :teeth:

No kidding!

I think one thing they could have done to prevent this is to call everyone who did not RSVP to ask what their intentions were. While it is a pain in the neck, it could have saved some aggrivation.

More reason to go to the court house like I did. Simple, fast, cheap, and no stress at all. I hate the big fancy wedding thing, but 1. part of that is outof sour grapes that I would never be able to afford one, and 2. it still bugs me that I was not invited to my niece's wedding early this year. I couldn't have gone, but they could have given me a pity invite! My mom went on and on about how nice and big the wedding was, seemed they invited everyone and their uncle.... well except me.

Poor Bride!! We had a reception for the in-laws 50th Anniversary. 135 RSVPs - the caterer said he could handle up to 150 (we figured on some additional) - 200+ signed the guest book (and who knows how many didn't).

I have a question - were the 45 extra people invited or uninvited??? My son is getting married soon and I expect to have to call the people who do not return their RSVP cards - I would never just assume that if we did ont get their card that meant they weren't coming - people sometimes forget, or think they sent the card and didn't, or gave it to their husband to mail and later find it in his jacket pocket, or it gets lost in the mail, etc. Now if these were people who just knew about the wedding and weren't actually invited to the reception but just to the ceremony, that would be a problem. EEEEK!!!!

OMG ~ just when you think you've heard it all!!! :faint:

pixiedust: What a rocky start for your wedding day... best wishes and good luck to this couple!!

:sad2: How sad, sounds like groom's family puts the 'dys' in functional. :scared1:

Actually it wasn't the grooms side! The groom had 20 invited guests and 20 responded and showed up. They were from the brides side yet MOB accused the grooms side of being the problem. MOB got all the responses she knew who was the guilty party.

In this part of the country, people rarely have sit down dinners at wedding receptions. Even the most elaborate weddings are generally buffet style and people sit wherever they want. People spend most of the night moving from table to table and mingling.

The buffet style gives you more "wiggle room" w/ the head count, but I think it's really terrible when someone does not RSVP to a wedding invitation.

They were invited but never responded. I have no clue if they were called or not, I know they called my SIL when her brother's card wasn't there on the due date. BUT his got lost in the mail and they were told that yes he was definitely coming.
