Is West Wilderness Way only accessible by cast members or can guests use this way to enter and exit the FW campground?

Yep, what North of Mouse said. That is the road from the marina/settlement bus stop to Wilderness Lodge. Only cast members and buses for driving anyway. There is a walking trail along side it you can use.

Potentially a VWL future member (looking now). How long is the walk from WL to the settlement? I remember the days of the Crockett / Boone busses running this route. Its a short boat ride (enjoyable!). A camper trip to FW isnt in our future (we fly...little far of a drive!) but at heart we will always be fort people.

Bus is still there, about every 15,20 minutes.

Funny, come to think of it, I think I've actually biked along that road at one time several years ago before the VWL were even built. DH and I rented bikes and biked to FW, I'm sure that was the road (it was small and had a trail to walk which is where we rode our bikes). Didn't think this was accessible by guests as it wasn't then for sure, just curious if that's changed at all. Figured it was cast member/bus access.

Ran the pathway from VWL to Fort Wilderness 4 times on our last stay (a week ago), its a nice run/walking pathway. From the "compass" concrete marker at the entrance to VWL to the stop sign when entering Fort Wilderness is .9 miles. Running from compass to FW and around the FW loop and back is 3.5 miles. There is a map available at WL front desk.

Thanks for that tip, I just may run that path next visit. Last time I ran the loop around FW, but that would be a nice change of scenery. (I will need to keep up with my runs as I eat my way thru WDW LOL!)

The road itself is *only* accessed by buses/cast members - hasn't changed! There is a trail that goes beside it/or near at places that you can still walk/ride bicycles.
