hi i was thinking about staying at the vwl in a 1br. does anyone know which room i should request?

"Close to the elevators" is a good safe request as this puts you closer to the lobby and activities. Also keeps you away from the end of the long hall where the dreaded "dumpster view" room is! :)

You could ask for "pool view" but this applies to only a tiny minority of rooms, or "close to lobby" which is what I asked for when we go in March. Dad just had knee surgery and being closer to the lobby will be nice. Hope this helps.

Just my opinion, but rather than request a specific room, perhaps you should make more general requests. For example, non-smoking, upper floor, etc...

You will love VWL!

When we went in September we asked for close to elevator. My wife has trouble walking long distances. We were put in the small halway off the main elevator lobby. Room overlooked the wooded area behind the Villas.

You will definitely love this resort, can't wait to go back.

upon check-in in Oct. we were assigned a 1st floor non-dedicated, 1bdrm that overlooked the walkway to the buses... It probably wouldn't have been a problem, but we like to open the drapes, sit out, etc. but didn't really want to see (or be seen by) hordes of passerbys...

so we asked if they had a dedicated room on a higher floor...
the CM went into the back office and about 5 min. later came out with a 5th floor, dedicated 1bdrm... right off the elevators

we're not sure what it took for us to get that, but we did, just by asking...

put in as many requests as you'd like, it's probably better to do so upon your reservation...

but realize they are only requests and some may not be able to be accomodated... we were fully prepared for them to say, sorry the 1st floor room is the only one available to you... but they didn't and it started off a wonderful week... :cheer2:

there was a link a while back to a .pdf file that had the floor plans for the vwl...

it included room numbers, which ones were dedicated 1brm and which were lock-offs

as well as which were dumpster views... maybe someone can provide the link again?

thanks...

For What It's Worth:
We checked into the VWL at approximately 9:30 ish on Sat. Oct. 16. I had only requested non-smoking. At check in I forgot to inquire about the room assigned and request, as it wasn't ready. When we returned later in the day, close to 4:00pm we were given room 3502, a 1 bdrm dedicated. Don't know if this is the original room from the morning or not, really didn't matter. Anyhow, it was great. It was at the end of the "short" hall, to the right as you get off the elevators. There was no one above us (the building is three stories at that point) and being at the end of the hall there wasn't any pitter patter of happy feet going and coming. Really quiet. It looked out towards the rooms at the lodge. We loved it.

thanks for all your help :D i can't wait to go.
