We are doing a 4 night cruise in December and will be arriving a day early. Right now we are booked on Sat. Dec 4th at THV.

I am beginning to wonder if I want to be secluded when from All things Disney when we get there. I was going to WL for VWL (I know it might not come through), that way I can enjoy it at Christmas, and have more dining options available.

But, as I was thinking would I be better off flying into MCO, then going over to port and getting a hotel there?

I have never stayed in a THV, so that is a neat option as well!

What should I do?

Always, always stay with Disney. Dont they provide transportation from WDW to the ship?

I know!!! But there are 7 of us going and paying for Disney transportation to the port is kinda steep!
Wouldn't you have to pay for transportation from MCO to the off-site, anyway? Personally, if I had the points, I'd stay at Disney--any place--then head over to port the day of the cruise. As I recall, the ship isn't available to board until the afternoon, and most hotels require an 11 a.m. or noon check-out. You can waste some of that down time in the trip from Disney to the port. :thumbsup2

Always stay Disney if it's an option. I would want to begin the magic as soon as possible. pixiedust:

How does $ compare : MCO to port area hotel transportation compared to cost of WDW to port transportation ? And how many rooms does your group need to book at port hotel and how does that compare to 'cost' of staying at THV ( I'd use $10 per pt to calculate ' $ value ' of points you need to stay at THV ). You also might want to price picking up a 1 way rental car(s) onsite at WDW if they have a port location for drop off, this may prove to be cheaper than Disney transport to the port.

I wouldn't stay at 2br at VWL with 7 people and I think you are right that it will be difficult in December.

2 bedroom standard at AKV will save you points compared to THV and gets you 3 full bathrooms compared to 2 bathrooms in THV  , there are 2 table service dining options and buffet and if there's kids along they may enjoy pool area at Kidani, evening storytelling and the rangers have night vision goggles available. I'm not putting down SSR because we like it very much but I can understand that you may feel a bit secluded staying in THV.

Best wishes planning :goodvibes

We are staying at Kidani after the cruise. And the 7 people in our party are 4 adults and 3 kids (9,3,2)... HTH

We have a THV booked for the night before our November 11th cruise. There will be 4 adults and 3 children (5, 6 and 7) in the treehouse, and we thought it would be a great way to test out a THV stay.

DS and family will be arriving via Auto Train, so for once, we won't be needing to rent a car to get to the port. We've always rented a car/van 1-way from Avis or Budget to take us to/from the port and we've never had a problem with that. They provide shuttles to/from the port at their near port locations.

Hotels near the port are an option, of course, but we all opted for a taste of Disney before the cruise.
