VWL Satisfaction Poll

This poll is for the VILLAS at WILDERNESS LODGE.
A reply on a recent post looking for positive reports on BCV stated when
“we do a survey and have people rate their experiences at the resorts. Overwhelmingly, the polls indicate a high satisfaction level with all resorts.”
With this in mind, I am going post polls for each of the DVC resorts. This is not a resort bashing opportunity, but a time to rate your experience at a resort. Please only vote if you had stayed at the resort, not just visited. Because people rate problems differently – some hate lint on the carpet others don’t, some don’t mind waiting ½ hour for housekeeping to fix something others do, I am leaving it open. Rate it on a personal level for yourself.

I voted "Good Met All Expectations".

We've stayed twice at VWL in a 2 bedroom villa in August of 2001 for 2 nights before and 2 nights after a DCL cruise. Our expectations at DVC resorts are HIGH and we were pleased with our first experience at VWL. We were VERY pleased with our second stay because we were assigned one of the LARGE corner 2 bedroom villas. Our home resort is OKW and we've become accustomed to the larger villas and these corner 2 bedroom villas might very well be larger than the OKW 2 bedrooms.

I certainly don't expect it to happen but if these corner villas could be cofirmed at the time of reservation we VERY likely would buy a substantial number of points to ensure the 11 month booking window.

VWL owners should be proud of their resort. I am very happy to have VWL available for our family or friends should they prefer this resort when vacationing with us. I would not hesitate to stay at this fine resort again.

I voted Excellent.

WE own here and absolutely LOVE this resort. We have always had really great service at check in/out. Bell services has been great and the 2 bedroom we had last trip was clean and beautiful. We were in a corner unit overlooking the pool (dedicated 2 bed). One thing I really like about the villa is that it is SO quiet and peaceful and really feels removed from the hustle bustle of the parks. It was so nice to bring 18 month old DD back to the room after lunch and put her down for a nap in such a relaxing atmosphere.

This is our home resort, so we have stayed there about 7 times. I also voted "Good Met All Expectations" because out of the 7 times we have had a few problems between the staff and some room problems. We didn't get on the boards and complain about them, but I could not give the lodge an 'excellent'.

Realistically, it would be nearly impossible (IMHO ) for a hotel to be perfect if you stay that many times. Your odds of running into some sort of problem are bound to go up.

Even for my 'beloved Wilderness Lodge'! But we always stay at our home resort (unless we need to conserve points or need a lot of room) and we love it.

So far I'm the only one who's rated our experience there as "Disappointed". And yet, I've been very happy at BCV, and always encountered lovely CMs, minor problems have been dealt with promptly (I always maintain-minor problems can occur anywhere, the important thing is how they're handled). For instance, I had a light bulb burn out at BCV once (How horrible!). I got on the phone, and just asked them to drop a new one off in my room the next morning so that I could replace it (after all, this was 10:00 pm) They're response was "That's OK-we certainly don't want our guests to have to replace their own light bulbs", and within 10 minutes an engineer was there to replace my light bulb (yes, I had to give him a hard time about how I hoped he'd learned in engineering school the task of changing lightbulbs!) But at VWL, all the CMs we encountered were so cold and responded "Gee, I don't know why" when my room key that I'd set up for charging refused my charge in MGM-not exactly helpful!
I just hope no one DVC resort has a big trend of problems.

Simba's Mom, I have read several times about your dissapointment with VWL. Just wondering, how many times did you stay there?

I voted exceeded expectations. I have stayed twice 15 days in summer 2002 and 8 days over Easter 2003. We couldn't have been happier, but during the summer I did complain a bit about bus transportation. Things seemed better at the Easter trip, and I couldn't have been more pleased to have brought my parents along. They were also very happy, if not overwhelmed by the beautiful accomadations as well as attention to detail by the CM's they enocountered.

Actually, I admit I've only stayed there once, and it would be fair to give it a second chance. However, on the same trip we had made reservations on the last night at OKW. DH fell in love with OKW and doesn't want to stay anywhere else, not that he's unwilling to give VWL a second chance, he just loves OKW so much. I sort of feel guilty about not giving VWL a second try-since I travel solo once a year, and try out different resorts, someday I'll give VWL a second try-when I can tear myself away from my first love, BCV. So I will honestly say my impression of VWL is only based on one experience-my not trying out a second time has nothing to do with avoiding VWL, and everything to do with finding other DVC resorts we love.

But this would be the opposite for you! I just notice that whenever you have a chance to post about VWL, it is not usually good . I hope that some day you get a chance to try it again. And enjoy it!

Rated VWL as exceeded expectations!
We (I, DW, and DS's - now - 6 and 4) love VWL. Even though it is our home resort, we have only stayed there once (this past New Year's). A great experience. My in-laws, who also own at VWL, had requested a 1b.r. near ours, and they were assigned a room DIRECTLY ACROSS from ours! Great job DVC! The CM's we encountered were top notch.

I voted EXCELLENT!

We own at OKW and stayed there in a 1-BR unit (gotta love the space!) for our very first trip. But, we wanted to try all of the resorts out at least once. So, we did a quick weekend trip at BCV and you can't beat that location for Epcot. But, when we went this past April to WDW and stayed at the VWL....well, let's just say that we are almost surely going to be staying there for the majority of our future trips! All I can say is...WOW! Beautiful landscapes and fantastic theming. All of the resorts have something going for them, but the sense of uniqueness at VWL is well..unique. We hardly missed the room at OKW because there were so many positives at VWL for us.

Plus, with a small child it doesn't hurt being able to have her stay in her stroller from our room to the Magic Kingdom! Great transportation with the Ferry to the gates of MK.

Again, we loved it!

But by definition I should have voted met expectations.... My expectations are VERY high. VWL always comes through.

We own at WLV and have stayed there twice with a much anticipated long stay coming in Oct.

I voted excellent. And my only downside to that is one CM at the front desk. He is a young man late 20s early 30s maybe. He always has a rotten attitude. I really hope he is gone on upcoming trip.

I dont like to feel that way about anyone but he just irks my craw. He is like that with all customers. I thought I just rub him the wrong way but he is like that to everyone.

All other things about WLV are wonderful. He doesnt ruin our trips, just wish he was in the background somewhere. Too many nice CMs there to put out front. JMO
