Just read the following on the DVC member site:

"Enhancements are underway at The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge

Please note that Hidden Springs Pool will be under enhancement from January 7-11, 2002. However, don't forget to pack your suit since the Silver Creek Springs Feature Pool will remain open! "

I mean, what is the deal with the quiet pool? Most here will recall that this pool was just worked on about a month or so ago, and it is only a year old in the first place.

Does anybody have the real story here? The spin from DVD above is pretty thin. Just want to find out what's going on with my home pool. :(

If anyone is staying there for Thanksgiving, maybe you can update us on your return.

We were just there last week. The pool was terrific. It looked and felt just fine when we were swimming in it. I didn't hear any complaints about it at all. I can't figure out what they did to the pool on it's last closing. I guess we have to stay tuned for these interesting enhancements! :)

We were at the VWL in early October when the pool was last closed. We were disappointed as this was our first stay at VWL and our villa overlooked the pool. They appeared to be doing quite a bit of restoration. The pool was drained and they were sealing and applying some sort of caulk compound in all the pool side sidewalk cracks. Makes me wonder if there wasn't some sort of flaw in the original construction that was being repaired. The pool was filled and usable on our last day there, so we were able to try it once during our stay. :(

I e-mailed MS with my question and here is the entire reponse (quotation marks added by me):

"I called THE VILLAS AT DISNEY'S WILDERNESS LODGE and asked about the rehab planned for January 7 to January 11. It is routine maintenance that is being done to the pool."

That Hidden Springs pool must be the most routinely maintained pool at WDW!!!!

I just hope they get it reopened promptly......I requested a pool view for the 20th and 21st!

And hopefully it will actually be warm enough to swim!

We just came back from Disney, and stayed at the All-Star Movies resort. They also had significant portion of the pool deck closed for resealing. My understanding from talking with the construction guys is that it is done at least annually at all pools to keep things in tip-top shape, so I don't think the VWL issue is a construction problem.

We're waiting for our first contract to arrive in the mail as we signed up while we were down there and our home is VWL, so I'll follow this thread with interest.

At VWL some people expect to much of the pool area, It is billed as the quite pool rightly so, as nobody is there( We spent 10 days there in the summer) If you want a Blizzard Beach go to a water park if you want to swim without 200 under ten year olds head to VWL. Some Americans are becoming too pampered for their own good.
