VWL - Map & Policies?

I've been looking all over the 'net for a map of the Villas at Wilderness Lodge. I've found maps of individual rooms, but I'd like to know which types of rooms are where, how many of each type there are, and how many rooms of a given type have a given "view."

I'd also like to know about the smoking policy at the Villas. Is it the same as at WL proper - smoking always allowed on patios/balconies, with a few smoking optional rooms set aside? Or is the policy different?

Does anyone know where I could find such info?

I've only been to WL once, but prior to arrival, I called WL and asked about the issue and was told it was OK to smoke on the balcony of any unit. Perhaps that cast member was confused. We were in a smoking room, so it wasn't an issue.

ransom....I can't help but notice that several of your posts ask about getting specific room locations or views. I think it would be unfair of us if we didn't point out that all requests for rooms at VWL (and all DVC resorts) are just that....requests. They very well might not be able to meet even one request even if it is general like "near the elevators".

Also, they will consider the requests in the order given. So if someone asks for near the elevators, non-smoking....they will assume that being near the elevators is more important to the guest than non-smoking.

I'm not saying that requests don't get met ever. It just sounds like things like room location and view are very important to you, and I wouldn't want you to join DVC with any preconceived notions about getting a particular room on every trip.

And it's not like the regular Disney resorts where people contact the room controller a few days before check-in to put in requests....DVC doesn't work like that.

I think DVC can make a lot of sense for you, but don't want you disappointed if you check-in and your requests are not met on a particular trip. Good luck in your decision process.

DVC would have a much higher value to me if I could, for example, see a map of the rooms online, with those currently available for a given date or series of dates highlighted and the rest greyed out, then pick the room I want. I didn't think Disney would offer such a service, but I wanted to find out. Thank you to all those who let me know!
