VWL - Loved It!

Just returned from VWL--we had a studio all the way at the end of the hall on the second floor on the left. Didn't mind the walk at all. I was absolutely floored by the theming here. I love all the resorts, but I have to say that after staying here, this one really took my breath away.

The landscaping, flowers, everything was just beautiful. Riding a bicycle around, you really get to see and appreciate so much. Loved the ride over to Fort Wilderness through the paths, which were so nice and flat for bike riding.

We tried Whispering Canyon Cafe, which, in my opinion, had the best food of our trip (and I am not usually a big barbecue fan). Maybe it was because it was our first night and we were in such a great mood!

I wasn't as impressed with Artist's Pointe as I thought I would be. The food was good, but not fantastic for the price. And the service was sort of so-so.

I think housekeeping was really good at this resort. To top it all off, the Christmas decorations were gorgeous. I couldn't wait to get out of our room to just stroll around and admire everything. The place is so beautifully done, my eyes couldn't get enough. I wouldn't say it's my favorite resort. I don't think I have a favorite. Love them all, but this place is so well done in terms of the theming. I really felt like I was transported somewhere else. Absolutely beautiful, really no words to describe how gorgeous and tranquil VWL is.

VWL is what does it for us. Everything else DVC is just icing on the cake, and what wonderful icing it is.

We bought a 200 point add-on at VWL this past July just to "guarantee" availability at Christmas. We managed to reserve a studio at 7 months there last Christmas, were blown away by it all, and decided to see what we could do when our first BCV contract was paid off in the summer. Counting down to our Christmas stay this year - 31 days. What a resort! What a FABULOUS resort at the holidays!

I'll be at VWL in March- a surprise trip for the kids.
It will be our first stay there even though we have owned there since 2001. I can hardly wait ot get there and take in the theming.
I am also going to inquire about being a Flag Family- I think my boys would get a kick out of that.

Yes, we love VWL, too. From the theming, to the music, to the Hidden Springs pool, to the relative calm of the place compared to the parks (and some other resorts), VWL is nirvana to us. I did have to chuckle about WCC and AP--our experience has been the exact opposite of the OP! We've been to WCC twice and had mediocre food and service both times, and left feeling the entire meal and experience was not worth what we paid. We've also been to AP twice and loved it--the food, service, and ambience were superb. Though AP is a bit pricey, the tremendous treatment we received and delectable foods made the cost quite worthwhile. Plus, the cost isn't outside the limits one would pay at a nicer restaurant outside of WDW. Can't wait for our next trip! aw:

It is a great place. Nothing else like it! We are going in 3 weeks to WLV and cant wait. We have never stayed there at X-mas!

Dh and I both love the VWL also. And we really enjoy AP as well. We've always had great meals and service. It is a place DH request to eat when we are at WDW.
It is a peaceful place. Friday mornings on MouseHouse radio at Live365.com they play about 1 to 1 1/2 hours of Wilderness Lodge music. Takes me back in a heartbeat!
One day we'll get there for Christmas!!

We stayed in August and LOVED it. It didn't even feel August in FLorida hot when we were on the grounds. We bought right into the theming.

I am not sure if our villa was smoking optional. I think I might have seen an ashtray in the room, but there was no smoke smell.

Our view would have been perfect, but it was not solely woods because we were at the very end of the building. Therefore, we could also see the parking lot adjacent to the woods. That was really the only downside, but it was still gorgeous.

That sounds like the view that we had last April from our two bedroom. It wasn't bad at all though. We actually saw 3 deer running in the woods right outside the villa our first morning there. Talk about a neat start to the trip. We were absolutely blown away by VWL. It was our first DVC trip (my mom and stepdad own at SSR). Sounds like you had a great trip!
