VWL Groupies & Lovers Thread (Special Collectors Edition 2.5) updated 2 February 2025

Lakeshore Lodge is really coming along! Is the path from WL to FW still closed? I’m hoping that comes back when LL is open.

Beautiful photos Jimmy. Looks like you are enjoying great weather.
Hey Granny!
Sadly, its still closed. I too hope they will find it in the plans to re-connect the 2 areas
The weather has been awesome. Cool in the AM and later PM, with temps and sunny days in low 80s

Nice pics! From what location did you take them? At FW?
Hey Sleepy!
Two of the shots were taken from the Settlement area just to the left of Pioneer Hall. Its a massive building. The other sunset shot was taken from the boat launch at FW.

We were going to grab the boat back to MK that night to catch OKW bus, but the Christmas Party guests were lined up to the point it would have been at least 3 boats before we got on. While we were standing there we over heard a group of campers grumbling about DVC, Lakeshore Lodge and we already have a another D&%$ Lodge over there(pointing towards WL). So I felt sorta bad as I walked away and failed to tell them we were going to catch the bus to MK(that they didn't know about)with no waiting.

Was that mean or what?:duck::rotfl2:

Hey Jimmy, were you able to catch The Beach Boys and John Stamos? We were at Epcot earlier this month and I SWEAR I never saw it so insanely crowded. The line for the concert was the longest I ever seen! It was for BoyzIIMen…I could not believe how crowded Epcot was!

Hey Corinne!
We decided to
forego it. People were lining up at 8am today. I saw pictures on fb showing lines running past Mexico for the early show

I feel like I post a lot of repeat photos so
I want to share more 1st experiences this trip
I’m currently sitting in the new MK DVC lounge near country bears
I love the vibe here as I expect most of us WL lovers would

Well, the final day has arrived. I woke up early and saw them putting up Christmas lights at OKW on the bridge. I think someone posted yesterday that the WL lights are up too.

Headed to DHHIR later today for an overnight stay, off to Hudsons seafood on the Island for a bite this evening, then home tomorrow.

BTW, wanted to give an update on my Dad. He is doing much better, had his final PT at home this week(shhh, he started driving a few weeks ago and came back to work PT 3 weeks ago), Cant keep a good man down long! 94 yrs young, broke hip on Labor Day, and now back to a normal life. He is my hero!!

Now to the next chapter, if anyone feels led too, please pray for my older brother, Andy. He has dealt with Bi-polar most of his life, had a good run of 30 plus years of keeping it in control with proper meds, now, he is not doing so good. The dr changed meds and he hasn't been doing well since, to the point, not taking care of himself. Yesterday, he was admitted to the ER with aspiration pneumonia and dehydration. I appreciate any prayers and concerns for this.

Kudos to your dad - he sounds like mine (he made it to 97) and prayers for your brother…and enjoy HHI.

We made it to HHI
Trip was great until we got off I95, then took a solid 2 hrs to get to the resort. 😂

We got a handicap 2 bedroom in bldg 28

They have refurbbed the rooms and did a great job. Kept some of the same vibe that makes it so special but with some new touches

And we got our picture made with Mr Tower of Terror himselfIMG_4840.jpeg

Dang! Was there some sort of accident along 278 or just the traffic from people getting an early start on the holiday and headed into HHI? I do know that the weeks from just before Thanksgiving through NY's Day are busy. And, I visited/cleaned/ran supplies/inspected that building and that particular room many times while I worked there. Granted, it was before the refurb. I've been back a few times since, and they did do an overall good job with the updates.

Hey Sleepy
There was an accident on 95 so GPS redirected us before got to sc line
We were in a bunch of single lane roads and everyone’s else gps must have redirected them too😂Not sure if this means anything, but we were on some road that was called Alligator Alley😳

Once we got to bluffton, there was a big funeral procession, so we sat through that, then once we got to 278 it wear bumper to bumper all lanes.

The young lady said it was a lantern festival going on and it draws crowds.

Great thing, once we got to Hudson’s, no waiting!!

Going to enjoy some coffee on the balcony before we head home

Oh, yeah! I read that there was some big accident near the border of SC/GA. Yeah, I'm sure Alligator Alley is aptly named--tons of those critters down there! And, yes, the lantern festival/parade is a big draw. Sounds like a perfect storm for traffic happened. The payoff being Hudson's was super, though. Went there a lot the first little bit I lived there, but the quality and service got a little wonky for a time. But, I've been back a few times since I left, and it's been back to being a great place to see the water and get excellent food! Safe travels, my friend!
