Well as the countdown clock ticks closer to our departure I begin to think about WDW nonstop:p Has anyone been to VWL when all the decorations for the holidays are up? Is it beautiful? Anything special about the villas at that time of year that struck you as breathtaking? Anything we shouldn't miss? Something you did that has stuck in your memory at the lodge?
We were at WDW last DEC at ASMusic and although we enjoyed the beauty of all the parks and special events the ASMusic was just alittle to loud for us as Pop Werner football players and cheerleaders were there. We are just looking forward to a roomier more relaxed yet fun and freindly resort!
Sorry for babbling. But just soo excited!!!!

PS
I don't want to sound like I don't like the Pop Werner kids - they earned the right to be there through hard work - and we should all be proud of that kind of teamwork:D

Of all the hotel decorations at x-mas time, WL is my favorite. I am not sure about VWL specifically though.
The tree in the WL lobby is HUGE, and done very nice. The Lodge is done with strings of smaller white lights strung from the balconies in the main lobby.
My favorite part of the x-mas decorations at all of WDW, not just WL, is that it is done tastefully. The decorations are not over done and gaudy.
Have Fun!

I agree with Maistre Gracey--the decorations are not at all gaudy. We enjoy visiting all the resorts to look at the different Christmas themes. Every time I think I've decided on a favorite, we visit the next resort! The Grand Floridian is also a must-see. I absolutely LOVE their life-size gingerbread house; the smell is heavenly!

I have the postcard we were sent last year (or the year before? ) of the VWL decorated for Christmas....beautiful. But I can't wait to see it for myself in a mere 26 days!

See you there!

The decorations in the lobby of the VWL are nice, but not as overwhelming as the tree in the main lobby of WL. There is nothing to compare with that in the villas.

While you are in the Lodge, take some time to explore. Walk up the steps above the main entrance to the second or third floors and you will find some cozy spots to relax by a small fireplace and watch the action in the lobby.

I don't know if you'e had the chance to take the tour of the VWL, or if they'll even offer it during the holidays, but if is VERY interesting! My DD (age 10) and I took the tour with only 3 other people. The details of the Lodge are very interesting. When we go this Dec 29-Jan 4, I plan to take the tour again but make sure DH goes with us this time! I can't wait to see the decorations! I'm jealous that you'll be vacationing before us!

I can feel the excitement building with you! We are going to WL for the 1st time also. Im glad someone posted about the gingerbread house at GF, we have to check that out.

Great site trhanks!:p

As far as when the decorations come down, I have been there the very first week of January for 3 years now. Never noticed anything removed before January 3. The last two years I've taken the boat over to MK 1/4 or 1/5 and seen all the Xmas decorations still up both times. Last year, I was talking to the CM at the Gingerbread house at the GF and she told me that there is so much work involved in putting up the decorations that Disney starts a little earlier every year and after all the work involved putting stuff up, tend to leave it up a little longer. BTW, don't miss AKL too!
