Hello,

Just took the plunge and purchased 150pts of SSR, we took the tour last year with a referal and then thought about it for a year. When our guide called us with the new promotion it was to hard to resist! My question is we plan on going every other year and are looking to go the first week in December for a week. I really want to stay at VWL, but is possible to get a two bedroom at 7 months out? I plan on booking SSR as our primary reservation, but would really love to stay at VWL during the holiday months. Thanks.

This is a tough call...... VWL is the most popular DVC resort at Christmastime, and dosen't have a lot of 2 bedrooms. That being said, I would call at your 7 month window and at least wait list. You may get lucky, but be satisfied with SSR......

I would think that is going to be hard to do unless someone cancels. Wait list. The VWL is the smallest of the DVC's.

I would book at 11 months at Saratoga and then at the 7 month try to get VWL - go day by day. Again the supply and demand for the VWL. Best of luck.

rnpilot8030...first of all, welcome to the DIS Boards and

:welcome: HOME!!

VWL is the smallest WDW DVC resort and very popular between Thanksgiving and the end of the year. There are only 89 total possible 2BR villas at VWL....44 dedicated and 45 lock-off. So yes there is a chance you can get something at the 7 month window, but my guess is you will probably have to waitlist.

I guess what I'm saying is to go ahead and try for it, but don't be disappointed if you can't get in at 7 months. Besides, no matter what you'll be at WDW!

Personally, I'd advise you to stay at SSR for your first DVC trip. It is your home resort and my opinion is that you should start bonding with your new home. You can certainly still visit the other resorts during the holidays to enjoy their decorations, but my opinion is that the first DVC trip should be to your home resort. Just throwing out an alternative opinion for you to consider. Good luck! :)

It might be too late for this, but I'd suggest a different tack.....if you really want VWL in December, you're going to be on the waitlist every year, on pins and needles as to whether you get in.

On the other hand, SSR is easy to get into at 7 months, because of its size. I think that should be true at most times of the year, maybe with the exception of December. I got a studio during F&W on a couple of months notice, when VWL, BC and BWV were fully booked.

Why not consider buying a VWL resale? That way you can book December at 11 months, and still easily get ressies at SSR for other times of the year.

I agree with the others. Book SSR now at 11 mos, then see what happens at 7 mos. with VWL. If nothing avail., waitlist. It is very possible that it will come through.
But if it doesnt, as Granny eluded, go and stay at SSR. It is a wonderful place, with its own unique character. We have stayed there and enjoyed it. And anywhere you can be in WDW is extra special during Dec.

And a hearty Welcome Home Neighbor!!

Definitely do a day-by-day waitlist. We WL'd at exactly 7 months out for VWL for this past December 2nd-8th. I took the advice of the MS rep and just waitlisted for weekly-automatic. He was pretty sure something would come through. Well guess where we stayed on our trip... BCV (our home resort)...had made those ressies at 11 months out.

Our weekly waitlist never came through. Next time we'll do day-by-day for first week of December.

We did make it over to VWL to check it out. Really pretty...but BCV was just as pretty I thought.;)

thanks for all the repsones. I do plan on booking SSR and putting myself on the wait list for VWL at 7 months. Definetely won't be disappointed if we don't get into VWL, it will be our first trip home! Couldn't be more excited.
