I've seen posts in other forums, but I wanted to post a special message to the students, faculty and staff at Virginia Tech, as well as the alumni and all others affected by yesterday's tragedy in Blacksburg.

As a VT alumn, I give a lot of credit to my education and the time I spent in Blacksburg for what I have now and the opportunities that I have been given that allow me to enjoy trips to WDW and the memories I have been able to create with my family.

Unfortunately, there are 32 families who will never get a chance to spend that time with one of their loved ones, and my sincere sympathy goes out to them. As a school community, and as a nation, we have all been affected by this senseless tragedy, but none as much as those who lost their lives yesterday.

:sad1:

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the families affected by this senseless tragedy.:sad1:

Likely this thread won't get to stay here, but as you know it has impacted so many in our region. DW and I both have co-workers with kids there. Fortunately, their children are ok. I grieve for those not so lucky.

We send out our thoughts and prayers for all the families and friends affected by yesterday's tragedy. May God grant them peace and comfort in the coming days. And to all at VT, may God grant you the strength to carry on.

I'm a Hokie too. In fact I lived in Blacksburg for 15 years, got 2 degrees there, and was on the faculty in Engineering for 2 years and Math for 1 year. I love VT, I love Blacksburg, and I feel for everyone in the community. You just can't imagine that something like that could ever happen in that peaceful little town. God Bless them all!

I rode horses at VT - Intercollegiate.

Heard from my old riding instructor that one of the girls killed was her student.

So awful for all of the families!

God Bless all the victims and their families. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire VT community as well...

It is just so sad. I can't get over the story of the professor who died blocking the door with his body to save his students. It brings tears to my eyes.

I too am a Hokie. Blacksburg and VT holds many memories (some good, some great, and some not so) for me (from the early 80's). My heart breaks to hear the news of what happened and when I remember walking across the drill field to Norris for classes. May God bless and comfort all those involved.
As our thoughts and prayers go out, may we always remember that God brings light out of darkness and Pray that God will use this horrid event in our country's history draw us closer to him and to each other!

My thoughts and prayers also go out to the victims and their families as well as all the students and faculty who will forever have to live with the effects this senseless tragedy. Unfortunately my town, miles away in Middletown, NJ was not spared from this unfathomable act. We lost a beautiful young woman, a grad student, who was a graduate of my children's high school. These terrible school shootings have just got to stop. God bless everyone affected by this tragedy.

There are no words that will settle deep enough to capture my despair over this.
Our most human reaction is to demand an answer to the question... why?
We will not know why this man enforced his hell onto 32 people who were thinking, studying, teaching and growing. People who would challenge and work and strive to make a difference. People who cared enough to try to learn. Lost at the hands of a broken soul.
And the people who were spared. The injured who defended themselves and others. Those that suffer physically as a result of this attack.
And all of the students, faculty, family who go on carrying the fear and the grief...
I can't begin to empathize this. It is just too big for my understanding.
God keep you all.

If anyone would like to use my VTRibbon tag, I will keep the link for the rest of the year. Here is the link.

Just at a ] to the end to make it work.

Or just copy it to your own photo album.

Shenandoah Mickey, so sorry to hear about your neighbor's son. Our thoughts and prayers are with every one. I was raised in Va and have been a hokie fan my entire life. Such a horrible thing to have happen.:sad1:

May God bless the victims, their families and friends. May those that are left behind remember the memories and hold them dear to their heart.

Yes and what a hero he is. Also a holocaust survivor.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families who are grieving. And to all the students and facility at VT.

DisDaydreamer - thanks so much for the VT ribbon image.

SCDizneyDawn - thank you for the well-wishes.

This is obviously something that has impacted everyone. I'm seeing a lot of "Hokie Hope" today...a lot of maroon and orange around the office. It's pretty moving, especially since I am the only VT alumn in the office.
