We always buy tickets for Disney through Ticketmania. We have used them several times. We live and breathe Disney even though many people I know think we are crazy. Can you imagine my surprise to receive my tickets today to find out I have not been sent 4 tickets but a total of 8. I was sent two different receipts each with 4 different tickets and ticket numbers. NO I was was not charged but once. I will admit I thought long and hard trying to convince myself this what just part of a "million dreams'. I wanted to keep the tickets so bad. However, I have realized I have to return the other 4. If I did not I think it would spoil my magic. I tried to call today but they were already closed so I will call on Monday to return the tickets. But what a surprise and I sure did fantasize ALOT about keeping them.

Okay I called today and spoke with the manger. He was not very gracious or that appreciative. He just said when good thing you did call because of KARMA and they would have eventually caught it and filed a police report with Disney!! When I asked if I would receive any "reward" for being so honest he said 4 free Disney buttons and free postage to return the tickets with!! First of all, I am not sure they would of even figured it out. He had not idea. The tickets were under two different orders numbers of which both said Paid with pay pal!!! Also, ticket mania says they can not cancel any tickets. So who is going to get the ones I return?? I wonder how many people would have returned them. Please let me know!!

Would you have kept them or returned them!!

It sounds like your order was just processed twice.

It would have been nice to have two set though, eh?

Aw. I would have such a hard time making the decision whether or not to keep them, haha.

I would have a hard time making that decision but ultimately I know Karma comes back to get you in the end.

Isnt it wonderful how magical disney is that you feel bad about that? good for u:thumbsup2

First of all, that manager was full of crap. They made a mistake, they mailed YOU the tickets, you didn't break in and take them! Good luck getting the police to take that one seriously! Good grief! :rotfl:

But you did the right thing -- :wizard: here's some pixie dust to celebrate your magical moment. ;)

You're a good person...he wasn't very nice at all. I am thinking somehow, you were sent someone else's tix, and hopefully you saved them losing out on their tickets and having a ton of stress before their trip. Not sure that Ticketmania will track down the rightful purchasers, but they have the ability to. And who knows, evnen tho thay say THEY can't cancel any tickets, they may have a way to have WDW decline them...not sure, but can you imagine palnning a second trip, apying those expenses and then each time you try your tix they are denied? Many would have kept them, sold them, etc., but you are above that.:goodvibes Like you said, now you can enjoy your trip guilt free. I do think that Ticketmania could've been a little friendlier in their conversation with you!

This would be an interesting poll!

I vote "honesty is the best policy". Good for you. Its ashame though that the person you talked with was such a jerk. Makes it even more tempting to keep those extra 'mistake' tickets huh?

You had me until your edit!

I would have returned them because it is the right thing to do. That is, it is wrong to take property which is not yours.

And, generally, I don't ask for a reward when I do what is morally required.

I would have given them back too. However when the manager had an attitude I would have said "yes I agree about karma and that is why I know the rude way you are treating me on the phone will come back on you."

The managers attitude is the reason I won't shop with with them anymore.
I ordered tickets with them before and I got my order 2 weeks before we left, opened it up, got a child's 10 day park hopper No Expiry and I ordered and paid for an adults.
I phoned them and he said said I had to mail it back down and when they got it then they would send on the right one. BUT it was too close to when we left so I talked him into doing hotel delivery (he wanted to charge me for that!.. umm NO) I spent a fortune sending them UPS So I can track it and make sure it got there in time. When we checked in I picked up my package from them and There was NO ticket! so I phoned them and never did get a single apology, I said because of this stress I would like the ticket with the water parks added to it. Nope, you get what you paid for nothing else. We could not get into the parks on our first day because we were waiting around for our ticket. Yes mistakes happen but at least say sorry or doing something to please the customer a bit. It was his whole attitude that was make or break for me. On our next trip we ordered from discount Orlando, they got my money not TicketMania.

I think you need a better reward than disney buttons. I hope they didn't say its my birthday on them!:lmao:

I have to agree with most. I would have sent them back. Thankfully that manager doesn't represent all but they are out there. Good for you.

If the person on the phone was rude, that in itself is reason to write a complaint letter specifically about rudeness. In this specific case no more than one sentence should describe the subject matter talked about namely the duplicate ticket order. Don't mention rewards or anything like that.

For practically all kinds of letters including but not restricted to this one it is OK to send a copy with the same old date in the heading every 3 weeks should you not receive a reply.

Another alternative would be to quietly send back the duplicate order without calling on the phone. This can be done at your convenience.

They should notify you before filing a police report or anything like that because for all they know, you may have received just one (or no) order due to a problem in the mails.

You are doing the right thing by sending them back - what does your heart tell you?

Keeping them would make you a liar and a thief. Your post makes it clear that in your heart, you are neither. ;) Good for you for taking the high road.

You have to admit tho...it's people like that manager that will make someone think twice about keeping the extra tix. What a jerk he was! I would have hesitated myself but would have def returned them. If I got attitude like was described I would have made a few phone calls to the company till I got someone in authority to listen. You could prob even sue him for pain & suffering for his nasty attitude and with todays laws...U might have even won! Yes, I am being a lil bit sarcastic here...lol
I have only dealt w/Ticketmania for small attraction tix like Gatorland and not had any problems.
Congrats on your "good side" winning over the lil red dude whispering in your ears and sorry you had to be treated so badly for your good deed.

kidsluvmickey, I found this on the web for you to take a look at...

www_ftc_gov/bcp/conline/pubs/products/unorderd_htm

(I see that I do not have enough posts to post a link, so I've replaced every "." with a "_" Hope that works and that it is easy enough to understand.)

When I first read your post, I had a feeling that I had heard something about how you are under no legal obligation to return something you are sent in the mail. After reading the snarky response you got from the person you contacted at Ticketmania, I just had to find some evidence to back up my initial gut reaction and get back to you.

They CANNOT sue you for their mistake. You are under no legal obligation to return the extra merchandise. They are OBLIGATED to provide return shipping for the merchandise if you are so kind as to point out their mistake, so that is no prize for your honestly.

For anyone else confronted with this situation, I would highly recommend the suggestion on the website above to contact the business in question in writing. That way you will not have to be verbally accosted by a know-nothing "customer service" clod.

Yes, honesty is the best policy and a reward shouldn't be expected.
However, I would call him back and instruct you expect a check in advance for the cost of the postage (assuming they wanted them insured) or the cost of the Fedex plus reasonable compensation for the cost of the phone call and going to the Post Office or Fedex. Since he accused you of a being a thief I would be a hardcase and tell him if he even thought about filing a police report you would call them and file a charge of filing a false police report against him.
