I'm considering playing Volleyball next year. Does anyone have an experience and could tell me what it's like? I've played a few games before in gym, but thats about it.

so much fun i played the 2007-2008 Season! i made some good friends and IMPROVED my game! at tryouts (if u have them) try your hardest and dont fret if u mess up! everyone is going to mess up::yes::
most of all HAVE FUN!::yes::
Good Luck:thumbsup2

a lot of fun !
very easy to learn the basic skills and things, but you really have to practise to be the best.

i'm playing next fall for school!

i love playing just for fun with friends and in gym..heck the other day my friend and i were playing with a pink balloon from a teachers retirement party:p

Volleyball is so fun! You will love it. If you already know the basic moves, perfect them over the summer. That means PRACTICE a lot. (: I also google volleyball drills to help keep me active in volleyball over the summer. :yay:

Anyways, volleyball is a ton of fun. You need good hand-eye coordination, and you need to be moving around a lot.

I'm one of the few that plays guys volleyball. I played varsity freshman through senior year and might play next year in college.

I want to play but my school doesn't have a boys team...we want to set one up but our Athletic Director wants us to do track instead for some strange reason instead.

I want to try out for my schools team next year.
I play it all of the time in gym.
I can hit pretty far and spike it.

I have a question though -- Can you be short to play? I'm like 5'2 1/2...

the only reason i tried out when I was a freshman was because my basketball coach said it would help my jumping, and it did. I also became good, got a college athletic scholarship offer and I'm ranked #2 in school history in kills( #1 being my teammate who played with me on varsity freshman through senior year)

You can totally play at that height! I'm 5'3" and there's a girl on my team who is 4'10. She's not a great player, but she also smokes pot and is generally very stuck up and overconfident, but that's beside the point.

Yes, you can be short and still play. It's all about power. One of our best players ever is a freshman this year and she's just about 5'1", but she can jump higher than I can and she's a really athletic player. What she doesn't have in size she makes up for in power, ability, and enthusiasm.

AHHH! A VOLLEYBALL THREAD! YAY!

I've played volleyball 5 years, this being my 6th. I've played club 4 years and this year it'll be my 5th. Volleyball is like the greatest thing out there! At first when you start out, it can and will get frustrating. In 5th grade, I thought I'd just be playing for fun....as something to do. But I've grown in love with it and I am 100% deidicated to it. I went from simple school ball in 5th grade, playing other area catholic schools, to starting on JV1(we had 5 teams) as a freshman and receiving offensive player of the year and spending about $10,000 last year in it on a national level team.

You have to remember to NEVER give up and ALWAYS try your hardest. Go into every tryout/practice/game/tournament with a positive attitude, and you'll have fun weather you win or lose.....but winning is always fun! =p

Good luck with it! If you have any other questions about it PM me. =)

**And you don't have to be 6'5 to play volleyball. I know a girl who graduated high school in 2007 and she's only 5'2. She received a full ride scholarship to a college as a setter. She had an amazing vertical and she could out jump some 6'0 players I knew.**

Oh okay, great! :D

Thanks~

Volleyball is sooo much fun! If your gym class is anything like ours it sucks! We play with beach balls so "no one gets hurt" as my gym teacher says. But th team is very fun.

6vs6 is still pretty new for guys at the high school and college level. Its starting to gain more recognition. I don't know how close or nice the beaches are by you but you can always just go down to the beach and play. Playing on the beach will improve you faster than anything especially if its just doubles.

You don't have to be tall to play but once you get into college you'll have to be tall or have an amazing vert. Alot of divison 1 girls are 6'3 - 6'6 and can get to like 11 11'6 in the air. You can play but the options for were you play and how often you'll be in the game will be limited, at the college level.
