Volleyball

you don't have to be tall, but it helps. I got some looks from colleges just because I'm tall and if you have the talent to back it up it just makes things easier.

I am totally dying for a vollyball team when i go 2 high school. I don't think our school has one and neither does the high school. Oh how I wish we had one. I would be so set on happyness and sports!

Anyways, volleyball is a ton of fun. You need good hand-eye coordination, and you need to be moving around a lot.

No, i wish i had a new one ! haha .

And you helped me realize that i managed to spell practice wrong... xD

Yea I understand. It's like that in all sports. I talked to a community college baseball coach who wanted to see me pitch just because I'm in the 6'5-6'6 range. I guess being tall does have its advantages.

I played from 3rd grade to this year so I have some experience. Its really fun. Good Luck

today i went to a USA Mens volleyball game. It was sweet.

I. AM. JEALOUS.

I would kill to go to a USA Mens or Womens volleyball game. The best I've ever been to was Minnesota/Wisconsin Women's College and AAU Nationals in Florida.

I just found out the most ridiculous thing.

I can't play on Varsity next year.

I'll be in my 5th year of playing this sport. I'll be a senior who has played on this same team for 4 straight years.

I'm going on vacation to WDW with my family and a friend. During the second week of preseason. Which is during my summer vacation as approved by the school (as in, it's official school vacation time).

But my coach's new rules state that if I miss 3 or more practices, I can't play varsity. If I miss 6 or more, I'll be asked to leave the team. As it is, I'm missing 3 practices and 2 scrimmages. If I miss one more day, I get kicked off the team.

Now, I don't want to sound snotty, but I'm one of the better players on my team. Yes, we suck horribly, but I'm one of the best of the worst. And as it is, without me, she can't field a varsity squad. She'll have to pull players out of positions that they've been playing for most of their time in the sport just to find somebody to hit outside for Varsity.

I'm also ineligible to receive my Varsity letter for Volleyball (even though next year should have been my 3rd year on Varsity). And I will not be eligible to be nominated for team captain.

We were also told that the only exception for missing practice is to get help with schoolwork or if somebody in your family drops dead. Got pneumonia? Come to practice. Mono? Practice. You're hacking up blood? Practice. Several girls on our team have braces. That means almost monthly trips to the ortho's office. Got appointments already made? Cancel and reschedule them. What they don't get is that there aren't enough doctors around here to go around. Some of these appointments are made a year in advance to ensure that there would be a spot for them. You don't just cancel these appointments.

I believe our new assistant coach put it like this: "Volleyball should be come the most important thing except for schoolwork. Forget your family, your friends. Just be dedicated to Volleyball. If you have something else you might have to do, choose what's more important- this team or whatever else it is."

It's so ridiculous. Sorry. I just had to vent.

I'm still playing next year, I'll just be on JV. But I'll be with a few of my friends who are playing next year for the first time, so it'll be ok.

volleyball is a girl sport but i play it only for recreation

No it's not. Guys can play too.

Anyways, I have tryouts in about 3 weeks. I'm nervous but super excited! I have a VERY good chance at varsity and I would love that more than anything! :]

I brought this back because I start volleyball today for my college's club team. We are either Division 2 or 3. We play a lot of big school like michigan state, Illinois,Marquette,Iowa and Indiana.

Volleyball it the best sport out there in my opinion but you have to be ware of the risk i sprained my knee at a game on friday, it takes a lot of work to perfect everything and you have to be very devoted

i'm considering too. all my friends play and i think it would be really cool

Well. I have some good news. Coach realized that she was going to start losing girls rapidly if she kept her attendance policy and thus instituted "Redemtion Saturdays". Come to an optional 7:30 am Saturday practice and be forgiven 1 absence.

I'm back on Varsity.

We're 0-4, which isn't unusual, but we've got a great set of girls this year and I'd love to win at least 1 game before I graduate (yes, you read that right, my team hasn't won in 3 years. We're the Miami Dolphins of high school volleyball).

My shoulder's bugging me and so is my left leg (hip through ankle, the entire thing), but I promised Andy (our AT) that I wouldn't bug him for at least an entire week. I've got 2 more days to go.
