VMK sold it's mind on Ebay

VMk really couldn't say that "giving" inferno to a friend or a random person for nothing in return is indication that there must be an out of vmk transaction.

they would really have little or no way to track who the seller and buyers are in the game- unless their ebay title is similar to their vmk title. Or if they buyer has more contact info that is same as VMK's

Of course they could- if they wanted to - do a "sting" and pose as buyers and bust you- but I don't see them doing that either.

Really I think they are turning a blind eye to the ebay stuff- many many products out there have not for resale- not to be transferred - etc on it- Disney and otherwise and they end up all over the place for sale...

I happen to have a friend that got her Inferno as a gift- no strings - no trade- she was just given it- should she and this other play been accused of selling/buying the virtual item- nope...

So no I don't think the risk is really that great- because they would have to prove so much more...

I suppose if you plan on selling - I would suggest you create your ebay account with an email that you do not use for VMK-

I still am amazed that people out there are actually paying that much for that pin lol...

Disney is certainly missing out on not selling cards and things- I've said before they could make a pretty penny- by selling VMK trading cards (separate from quest items) they could have some cards with items that are currently buyable and cheap, some for bigger ticket things, film lol, and then create a few rarer items just for this- garuntee one "rare" item in every pack. Sell the cards for $2.99 for a pack of say 8 or 10 and how many would we all be buying here?- most would buy big just to get the complete set of cards not to mention wanting the rare items. Then multiply that by the people not on this board but looking to get things- grandparents/parents who want a neat gift for the kids... Have the cards available at Disney Parks and Resorts, Disney Stores and online... /OT dream of Disney Merchandise lol

Very well said.. :thumbsup2
I think Disney has more to do than to track down VMK players who buy and sell VMK merchandise on E-Bay. ;)
I also agree that Disney is missing the boat on VMK merchandise such as trading cards as "Virtually Me" mentions (what a great idea). I have also thought a line of VMK pins/tee shirts with your little virtual person would sell like hotcakes. pirate: I know I would be first in line to make a purchase. :thumbsup2

$360 and climbing! My point of view is that amount of money would be a good start to going to the real thing. Of course, I have never seen anyone on the real Main Street dancing in a ring of fire either. :cool1:
Unbelieveable!!!!!!!!! I looked at it last night around 12, I can't believe it's jumped $60 more in the last 14 hours! yikes!

Attention all DIS...new inferno auction listed!

Starting bid: US $200.00 -- Buy It Now price: US $350.00

(These auctions are really fun to watch lol. This seller even shows his or someone else's VMK character's name.)

I guess this person would be glad to sell his/her inferno at the price the other auction is at now lol. But then again...maybe the losing bidders on the other auction have come back to reality and are glad their bids were outbid LOL! :rotfl2:

How well you do on ebay just depends on if there is someone out there at the moment who really wants what you have :).

$2 for all 3 pirate magics is up there. That is hilariuous. It says that they're rare

I saw that one! Yeah, it's rare alright -- to the person who has no idea these are free :(.

Hey Renpener, You're going to keep your Inferno right??

Huh, what? Someone selling inferno?! Who, where!!?!? I bid $4000*! :rotfl2:

This is just a joke -- no real bid was placed..no real money will be exchanged. :rotfl:

Honestly guys, my DH and I have been discussing the possibility of selling his inferno on ebay. A virutal pin for $300+ in cold hard cash??? Kind of hard to resist! :thumbsup2 so you may see another inferno up there in a few days...

It it a lot of money and it is INSANE that someone would pay for a virtual pin. Sooo, you might want to send the seller a message through ebay and ask about payment. Could be a kid was bidding and isn't going to follow through or it could be a mule was bidding to get the hype up. Didn't a second inferno auction begin right away?

Why do I have to keep defending myself here?

1. The second auction is not mine, if I had a second Inferno, why would I put up a second auction like that (which cost that particular seller $25 to put up) when I can just offer a "second chance" to the 2nd highest bidder (which is already more than the BIN of the new auction).
2. I do not shill bid.
3. I only take paypal, so unless the kid has a bank account linked to his account, he cannot bid.
4. Regardless of whether you think this is "wrong or right" I am not a scammer. The buyer will get the Inferno, and a few extras as well.
5. I have excellent feedback from lots of VMKers. I am not a scammer, I am just someone just like some of you, who happens to need to pay bills, if I was a millionare, or could afford to go to Disney 6 times a year, I would keep the inferno.
6. For those of you thinking of selling: If everyone puts their inferno on ebay, what do you think will happen to the price? If you are thinking of selling it, dont do it while there are other auctions. Thats just advise, do whatever you wish, but I can pretty much guarantee if there were 6 of them on ebay, they wouldnt be over $100, much less $300.

Hi, I'm not selling on ebay, I've been burnt too many times by sellers, plus I wouldn't pay 50 cent for a vitural pin of any kind.

But you know--- Free Enterprise is the American way of life. If you own something free and clear it is yours to do with what you want, sell it, keep it or give it away. :sunny:

Some people have lots of money to burn so $360 or $500 is nothing to them.
For me the $300 plus the cost of the tickets I spent at WDW in December for a day trip was a ton of money.

eseller - I wish you didn't have to feel like you have to "defend" yourself here on the Dis. I, for one, am in total agreement with you. I see NO PROBLEM whatsoever with selling VMK codes or items on Ebay - NONE! And I don't understand at all why other people get so enraged about it. :confused3 If people out there want to pay money for virtual items, who cares??????

And yes, *if* I can convince my DH to sell HIS inferno on ebay, I will make sure there are no other infernos listed when I do list it. I have sold MANY items on ebay in the past (never VMK) so I do understand about waiting for the opportune time. :) :) :) But thanks for your advice and GOOD LUCK!!! Hope you hit $500!!! :thumbsup2

I don't think anyone was really ever that upset about the seller- I think the buyer is insane- the seller is pretty smart...

No inferno here but you better believe if I had it- wow extra few hundred bucks for something that was free- sure...

PT Barnum said there was a sucker born every minute- and made a fortune off of the many many suckers that visited his shows...

This is VERY true (Learned this from experience!)...

I totally agree!! Seller smart -- buyer insane LOL!! Go seller!! :cheer2:

Actually, I talked to Host_Hula the other night about this. VMK is not very happy about this and is looking into the ebay sales. Of course she can't say what will or will not happen. Maybe nothing, then again, maybe something will happen. So I wouldn't just jump on the band wagon and start selling stuff on there for a long while.

Personally, I won't ever. I personally see something wrong to sell virtual stuff. I would never pay 1 cent for anything virtual. And I won't ever plan a trip to a park just for VMK either. Not that I wouldn't do the quests. But I'm not going to spend money on a virtual game.
I am not rich. In fact I owe tons of money due to doctor and hospital bills (among others) and can't even live off my own paycheck. But I, in good conscience, could never sell virtual items. I see something wrong in selling something that is completely free and that a person could never touch. But, if some of you can, then great for you. But maybe that's why I remain poor.

You are rich in Real Life someone is selling it on ebay for $306.90 someone has actually bid this much it is crazy now i am wondering if i should or not i know it is wrong but it is like free money lol

I am not going to bc then i will get banned i don't know why i thought that in the first place
