VMK sold it's mind on Ebay

I really wish that the VMK staff was doing something about these. This is really just another way to rip people off. They can watch for this stuff and contact ebay to have them taken off and the sellers barred from ebay.

This is insane. Inferno for $300? There's not even a card or code to be sent. They have to meet in VMK to do that trade. And what if they pay their $300 only to end up not actually getting it?
It may be one thing for people to sell the actual cards, but the virtual only stuff? What a rip. And it actually makes me angry.

well, look at the persons feedback and you will see many many sales gone off without a hitch, so, I doubt its a scam. And how would you get them kicked off ebay? What is illegal about this? I ebay and this is not illegal, heck, if I get inferno, Im selling it. $300 would help greatly with paying my 3 months behind Electric bill.

I have been "reported" to ebay several times and I have never gotten so much as a warning, regardless of how you feel on it, it is legal. If I was rich like all of you, I wouldnt do it, I would keep the inferno because I would love to have it, but I am not. My wife and I havent seen each other in 2 weeks because of our work schedules, I get home from work and hand her the keys and she goes to work and I am asleep before she gets home, then I am up before she is and out the door. Sorry, but a house, 2 kids, electric and gas, car insurance all add up, unfortunately, they add up to more than our combined paychecks, so you do what you can. Funny too, how someone with "tolerance" in their signature is promoting hate.

It is legal to sell what you want on ebay and as long as the seller follows through there is not a problem however VMK House Rule Number 9 clearly states:

Don't buy or sell accounts or items. We reserve the right to cancel any player account that was bought or sold, or player accounts that have bought or sold items.
By use of this site and the VMK game, you agree to abide by the VMK Terms of Use.
Failure to comply with the rules of VMK may result in your being banned from
VMK temporarily or even permanently

so its VMK and not ebay that has a problem with the sale of items....and I do not know how they would trace this back to the seller if they used made up information to make either account so dunno what to tell you

Sorry, but all of you complaining about how selling is against VMK values, you should also note that the virtual prizes/codes are NON-TRANSFERABLE! Which means if you trade a VMK item to another person or even gift them, you are just as guilty as someone who sells the item.

Do not put everyone in a single catagory, I am by no means rich and am pretty much in the same boat as the rest of us adults....spouse, kids, house, bills and more bills and yes they do add up and you do what you can to get by. You made a personal decison to sell on ebay and that is your business as well as your risk. No reason to get upset, what is good for one is not good for all. You did not have to come forward with this information. Good Luck with your sale.

and yes it does state that on you cards...virtual prizes may not be sold or transferred and have no cash value but no where within VMK rules does it state that you will be temporarily or permanently banned for doing so like the selling of items. so i dont know, i would just suggest that whatever one chooses to do either way, do it with caution (keeping in mind the risk) or just dont do it

My view- to each his own...

I have absolutely no problem with quest cards being sold- they are trading cards and that happens-

I shake my head at the people offering yeti pins, everest rooms etc- codes for like $2 a pop- but hey- if someone is silly enough to pay is it truly hurting anyone?

I think it is ridiculous that there are people insane enough to pay $300 to buy inferno- yeah I'd like it too- but not that bad. geez

Disney could put a stop to this if they wanted- but obviously they don't want to alienate those guests who have obviously gone to parks to get the cards- hey guests are guests and that means $$$ for them

I know they can stop the sells on EBAY because as a Girl Scout leader- there have been many selling GS cookies on ebay- and I have seen a box of cookies that normally sells for $3.00-$4.00 go for up to $30.00- now some people are probably bidding that high to donate money to the troop selling- but GS has a big thing about reselling the cookies and selling on the internet by girls/troops- and yes most of those get closed when reported- but some go through... EBAY is big and no one wants the full time job of policing EBAY- I know with GS there is also a "may not be resold" policy on almost all merchandise- the only things GSUSA has stepped in for has been cookies- tons of other GS merchandise is available and always will be on EBAY- but they don't worry about that.

I personally would not buy a "virtual" prize on Ebay- could see purchasing a card down the line (not doing it now -no extra funds) - but the logistics of getting on and trading with someone is just not a risk I would want to take.

I do feel sorry for some people though- some of the ebay things are technically not scams but certainly not a good deal- like the free doors, skull rock stuff, Everest stuff- sure there are people out there who can't play the games- but some of those things are going for so much considering there is no cost to the seller at all (other than ebay fees)

Ebay is one of those things you either love or hate- I tend to avoid it for the most part- lol - bought way too much GS stuff (most of which is in boxes and I should really pull it out and resell it all and get my money back lol) and Beanie Babies- yes I was taken in by the stupid things and actually bought some on Ebay-- But I know many people who ebay all the time- to get things for a relatively good price or to clear out the clutter in their homes and not have to have a garage sell.

You can find almost anything on there- and I would expect that to go on for a long long time...

Our society is based on a free market and supply and demand. If someone is willing to pay for a virtual item that is their right. No one forced them to pay outrageous amounts ofr items and if they do, well that can be between them and their shrink. What VMK does about it is another issue.

Ebay has a long list of things you can't sell and if Disney wanted VMK stuff on that list I don't think it would be difficult but they probably don't really care enough about the handful of people that are selling.

I just was browsing the latest set of Ebay auctions and found something really interesting that raises a great question. Some user is selling an Inferno Pin....that's right Inferno! With a couple of days left there have been numerous bids and the auction is up to $360.00 That's right, no typo....360 good ol' American dollars, and there are still a few days left.

So with that....aside from thinking who ever is willing to pay that much for a virtual pin on a video game is absolutely insane, or just has so much money it isn't an issue....would you pay that much yourself?

With that would you sell your Inferno Pin if you knew you could make that much money off of it? Being I don't have one, it doesn't matter to me, but I know I would unload my pin for that price in a heartbeat.

Just a quick thought, how much would you pay to go to Disney to get some of those things for yourself? Our next trip might be over $2000 plus the $15 for buying gold ears so I can have them in VMK. Is $30 for a HM code really bad for those who don't have the "real" money or time off?

I bet staff have to watch eachother as they may be tempted to "give it to a friend" "on accident" and have them sell it. Could be very interesting. Especially being that all it takes to give ANY player in VMK inferno is a simple flag in a database.

My apologies for opening a new thread on the inferno when I missed the discussion already going on here.

To think that Inferno can go as high as $500 blows my mind. I know some out there have multiple inferno's and this must be one heck of an eye opener.

I am basically thinking that considering Inferno trades are limited, the VMK staff can not be clueless to see what is going on. I personally think it will be easy for them to track down an Inferno trade where the other player is giving up nothing. This alone would raise questions and more than likely lead to a ban, where someone is captializing on a free game at such a high value.

Therefore that leads me to my next question. Knowing you will more than likely get banned for doing this...obviously hypothetical as we haven't seen this happen yet.....how much would you be willing to get in dollar value for an item like Inferno or Green Flips, full well knowing a ban is on its way.

If someone offered me $1000 for both or even three inferno's I would personally say it is worth it. Maybe I am being ruled by the almighty dollar, but $1000 can get you a week in WDW....which is the real thing and not virtual. I know others may disagree, but a cool grand is a cool grand.
