well HELLO!!! Do you expect VMK to GIVE OUT THINGS? NO!i personally do not understand the reason of this thread, its makes no sense. You're supposed to do quests and work for things in VMK! it sounds to me as you do expect VMK to just give things to the people of VMK.Do you really believe this? or are you just tricking yourself?Well, of course they're not going to do this.

A lot of the reasoning behind this thread is the numerous bans that were given out for people who were "trying" to work to get the costume, yet were being accused of cheating and "entering" too many codes. Nobody is saying that we shouldn't have to work for anything, but to accuse those who can type faster than the norm of cheating to enter codes faster is absurd.

On a side note IMO: Nobody is saying to give give give... but I do agree with the others that this is the wrong item to make "luck" in obtaining. Everyone loves collecting the costumes and outfits, but now many may not be able to complete their collection. You can work and work and work to get this item, yet you still may not be able to get it. The Narnia Teleporters, true are very nice, but that is something that I could see making more difficult in getting as it wasn't something that EVERYONE collects.

Do I expect them to give me anything? No. Do I expect them to make it somewhat reasonable to obtain whatever it is? Yep. Shoot, even with Inferno, there is at least one given out every Host quest. You know it's there, even if you're unlikely to win it, but at least it is there. With this we all have no clue and we're getting stockpiled with a bunch of stuff we (most of us) don't want or need beyond a few of each item.

As a Disney history buff, all I have to do to tell whether something Disney-related is right or not is ask myself "Would Walt have approved of this? Would he have said this was the way to treat guests?" The answer to that in my mind is a big fat heck no, and that's all I need to know. The man was a genius, and it's just such a shame that the company is not still in the hands of like-minded individuals. There are some things they are great at, many things in fact... but VMK is not one of them, in my mind. He wouldn't have put up with this garbage. If you weren't a tip top cast member, you wouldn't even be hired in the first place. They have a bunch of yahoos running things, apparently. That's more and more clear to me each day. :sad2:

The bans make me very angry (not to mention nervous to input more than around 120 codes a day). But frankly this whole stinking thing makes me angry. I'm glad someone else saw that about Hula's comments (she's just the messenger, obviously; I certainly hope she doesn't feel the same way :sad2: ). I've been upset about that since last night. We're spending hours and hours of our lives all because VMK wants "to teach [us] patience." Who the heck are they to try and teach me that? :furious: I went to one of the top schools in the country for my Bachelor's and am getting a Master's from the same place. It's in the education field, and thus dealing with small children day in and day out. I'm one of the most patient people on the planet; I wouldn't be going into the field I am if I wasn't. I know a whole lot about patience and "not everything is easy to obtain." I worked myself to death to get my B.A. and graduate magna cum laude (barely missed suma cum laude :guilty: ), and school has always been easy as pie for me. Nothing was good enough for many of those professors. Hence the saying there "Where you best hasn't been good enough since [the founding year]." I had next to no life for four years, except in the summer. So VMK, don't you dare tell me I need to learn not everything is easy. I say you're the ones that need lessons... in good guest relations, PR, and marketing! Not to mention common sense. :furious:

Rant over. :surfweb:

Well Hello :)

The original "purpose" of this thread was very clear. Of course I don't expect VMK to give out things but I do expect them to make it fair for everyone who wants the item. My point is if VMK is going to design a game where we need to keep trying for an item the PLEASE let us try and don't threaten to ban us when we do.

Who in this thread has said that VMK should just hand us everything with no work required?

I believe the purpose of this thread was very clearly stated. You really need to go back and read the first post as well as subsequent posts.

If you have no problems for being banned for doing what VMK clearly wants us to do, then so be it. But do not accuse people for wanting everything for free just because we don't want banned.

For the record, I and most other DISers have worked very hard to acquire the things we have.

So by that rationale the new system would involve you standing in line for Everest for many hours. During this time you will be removed from the park on numerous occasions for no reason whatsoever (we'll call these extra magic treats shall we) after you finally make it to the ride you will be told 'sorry ride closed now' upon pointing out that this is not really fair after all your time you will be met with a sarcastic and purely uninformative answer a la VMK staff members, (let's go with, 'I don't give a damn what you think I'm still getting paid, but I'm so shortsighted I can't see that if I don't treat you right you'll all leave and I'll be out of work' shall we because after all that is what they are doing ). If you do manage to get on the ride you will leave happy that you have achieved something, however on exiting the ride you will see a nice big sign that says 'Rides for all, no wait, go to Emporium'.

I think these people should be placed in charge of running Disney as they obviously have been sprinkled with that same unfriendly, self obsessed pixie dust the a certain Mr E used to exude.

I have one thing to leave you with to ponder...What would Walt say?
Remember though in your scenario, you would not have to pay to wait in the Everest line. Today you pay to get into the park...imagine what the lines would be like if it was free? VMK is free. So you have long lines.

Imagine you could buy every VMK item you wanted at any time. Have you bought them all already? Would you get bored? or does trying to trade for/acquire items give you a goal?

vmk didn't get the point though all they did was make the codes harder to get since you cant do desktop then vmk then get another code

In addition, the game page says, "Collect all 5!" or something very close to that. Doesn't that make it an order to collect them all? If I tell my kids, "Clean the bathroom!" I expect them to do it and do it as soon as possible. No smiley here, I'm being serious. If they wanted us to enter only a few codes per player or per day, they at least should have put a disclaimer like other sweepstakes types of contests do. You know, something like, "Limit one entry per player each day." Someone would find a way around that but at least they would have a valid reason for banning people. Banning people for an unwritten rule that goes against what the web site says to do is just plain wrong.

Having a goal is great! being able to get to that goal is what this thread is about.

1 in 5000 is an almost untainable goal for most and then getting banned for trying to get there is just the most unDisneylike thing VMK has ever done!!

what is wrong with having that costume be 1 in every 500???

what is wrong with making the quest so that MOST vmkers can complete them????

this pirate hat one, this week-end, was much better but the fireworks part of it for me was unobtainable, if some one had not done that part for me then I would be without the Pirate Hat.

Why couldn't the score been more like 80,000 - 100,000 instead of 120,000...I feel so bad for all the kids and adults I see playing FWs over and over to get this hat and at the end of the night tonight when VMK closes they still will not have it!

Not because they did not try and reach that GOAL but because they could NOT reach it no matter how long and hard they tried!

Where is the Magic in that?!?

this game is geared towards 8-14 year olds why not have levels of difficulty with the same prize and then extra credits for the most difficult levels????that would cure boredom.

that way most everyone could complete the quest and the really good players would get extra credits...I think the quests are set up so they could do that anyway.

sorry so long but it just chaps my bottom!

Worried about the kids huh? When did 8-14 year olds stop being good at video games? I think the playing field is pretty level. If you can't play the games you can still trade for the items or get them gifted to you by friends who do play the games well.

And, why can't you teach your kids that the same values they use in real life apply in this virtual world. If you teach your child that their value as a person isn't determined by the label on their clothes then why do let them get worked up over a virtual status object like a Stitch hat? Hey mom, that's called a teachable moment! :thumbsup2

Furthermore, we (this board) are all a bunch of cheaters. We run our moles through Quests and staff events to stock up on prizes that were intended to be distributed one to a player. The Quest answers get posted here as quick as people can finish them so those who play later don't have to work for the answers themselves. We post shortcuts for all the outside games and techniques to get codes out of them faster than they were designed to distribute them. We prefer to think of this as a community of fans working in cooperation. I don't have a problem with it. I benefit from it. It is technically within the game's rules. But think about the unfair advantage this board and others like it give to players over those who just play the game.

I only skimmed this thread so I'm sorry if I'm restating something someone else has already said. I just think some of us play this game too much. Because of our time investment we take it more seriously than we ought to (myself included). I probably wasted an entire day trying to win Narnia teleporters when that game first came out. I was running the game in 6 different browser windows for hours on end. I traded 20,000 credits for one later. Today I was gifted 5 of them. Funny huh?

Don't obsess, and do type your codes in just a little bit slower. :teeth:

Lots of Good Points. :)

I have pretty much quit playing VMK. I get tired of trying to get into HOST games and get things from games. Narnia Teleporters made me want to pull my hair out.

Just this morning I learned there was a quest going on this weekend (thanks Renpener for the tip;))my brother and I tried for about an hour to get the dang hats. Tehn I lost all patience and ended up trading for them. I can't play pirates very well at all, I try, but it's not my thing. My point is: make the quests easier, please? I have to play Mansion at my grandma's, her computer works great for that game.

Anyway, I type faster than most people my age, I type 75 wpm. I type codes pretty fast, I'm surprised I haven't gotten a warning. I thought about having my brother, who is 7, type them, lol.

I agree with this thread. I have some sort of bug that I can not do the Tommorrowland , or HSM quest on my computer. When I say the right words it never works. I have tried it hundreds of times. Because of that no car, diver suit magic, or Inner Space store for me. The pirate quest was hard. I think they should do more trivia and trivia everyone knows. If the server cant handle hundreds of people in a host game make 4 or 5 running at the same time. Its not fair if we have to wait 30 minutes and then crash.

Is anyone else afraid they have messed up on the ONE code that works?? :rotfl: I'm pretty careful, but sometimes I think I forget to erase one and I try to enter it twice....

I think....

or did I copy it incorrectly? omg, what if that was THE code??? :rotfl:

Webmaster Kelsie, did you ever get a response to your email?

I just read this for the first time, and I think it should get a friendly "bump".

- Thunderous Roar Of Applause And Bravos -
I had just read this and this has been a great exclamation. I joined VMK for visiting the parks when I'm not at DLR. I really don't like the idea of having to wait hard for a HOST game and miss it, just for a dumb crash or dc. You work really hard at a quest(for example, the Green Car fireworks question) and suddenly, on the last question, you dc and the time limit goes by and you have to do Fireworks AGAIN! And then you ask a HOST and they say "it's supposed to be a fun moment to do a quest like that."
That is something you DON'T want to hear and you then get very mad and contact the VMK staff. What do they do? They DON'T respond! I'm sorry if your reading this, staff, but I really don't like this.

Off topic, but once me, nanoer and karo get our new game up it will be much better, not as much lines, and Alot better staff.

Nicely put. This banning is tainting the Disney Spirit! My kids and I are PLAYING IN FEAR, waiting for our ban. That is no way to experience DISNEY.

I have written VMK about this many many times, and they stopped responding after a week. Heck when they did respond it was useless anyway.
