VMK Pirate pins/cards are sold out

Well DLR is getting them next month. Why not try calling and ordering them from DLR shopping. They're different from WDW shopping. Maybe you can get them before Feb that way. The number is: 1-800-362-4533 and the E-mail is:DLR.DelivEARS@disney.com.

Here's the link to the DLR pin info:
http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=21598

I will save you all the phone call.

They dont have them yet. They will not be pre-selling them. You cannot pre-order them. They will be only in late December.

- per cast member at the Disneyland Merchandise line.

(btw - they were not sure what the pins were when I first described them, but after asking around to co-workers, found someone who had the above information. "Is this that game that we have the cards for over at the park?" :lmao: I dont think Disney quite understands just how much we are addicted!

Well I just checked my credit card, and they've charged me as well. So hopefully I will be seeing my order in the next 10-20 business days. I'll definitely be interested in trading duplicates with those of you who manage to get their boxes too.

Yes, I think everyone that was there today looking for the pins were not just buying ONE box, but buying dozens....

I just hope the rush settles down in by the weekend... (a girl can dream cant she)

Hi Pirate Stitch -

Welcome to DIS. You will want to start a new thread for information like this. Just state what you did here and ppl will welcome you to the family!

Have fun!

Woot my card was charged too!!!! I wish I had ordered more boxes, but silly me thought there would be some at WDW next week. OH well, at least I have some stocking stuffers for the girls and the Chicken hat gets a few pins, sadly not in time for my trip...

I'm really glad you were able to get your pins! :goodvibes

I do wonder though why when I called merchandise today just before noon, they told me that all of WDW is sold out of these pins and won't be getting more in until February. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like this pin release is being handled very poorly. :sad2:

I can tell you are new to Disney pins. The sad thing is, this is pretty typical procedure for a pin release. The thing that worries me is quite often there have been releases of open edition pins where the pins were never restocked after the initial release. I sure hope they don't do that with these VMK pins.

I've been collecting Disney pins for many years and I've heard this same story over and over again. The cast members often have incorrect information and it's very difficult for cast members to contact other stores in the resort. If you want a specific pin, just go to as many of the stores as you can, including the hotels.

Hi Qruthie,
Yes I am new to pins. :wave2: I found out about these pins here on dis boards and that they would be released nov. 14. So imagine my shock when on the morning of the 14th the castmember laughed at me when I asked to buy the pins. I had no idea that the 14th was a general time frame. I thought it was a firm release date. I also was shocked that they would order so little if it takes so long to get more. And I guess I shouldn't be shocked to get a dozen different pieces of information from as many castmembers but I guess I still was a little. All in all, I just don't think that they handled this correctly. I shouldn't be made to feel as though I have to jump through hoops just to purchase a pin. I doubt I'll buy any pins at this point, I'll probably just try to trade for what I want. And I know that the only person who cares about that is me, lol... but it makes me feel better anyway.

Thanks for the insights. It's good to hear from a veteran pin collector! :goodvibes

:woohoo: Woot! I bought 3 on ebay for a total of $27.50 which seems equal to the cost if I had ordered by phone (other than I would have been buying four) If someone wants to trade the pirate treasure rug -with Pluto -(that's what I have) for one of your extra chip and dale or I don't know what, pm me.

You are not the only person who cares about this, trust me. I could list all sorts of pin release fiascos that were much worse than this one. Pin collectors don't like it and the cast members don't like it but the communication break down never gets fixed. Buyers should not have to jump through hoops or have an inside contact in order to buy these pins. The difference between you and me is I am used to this baloney so I'm not surprised at the way they released the pins. However, I do care that you weren't able to get your pins. If you took the time and made the effort to go buy pins, you should at least have a voucher or raincheck in your hand. The people who used mail order were able to get the pins on back order. You'd think the pin sales areas would at least have a phone available for you to call the mail order department.

I think any normal person would be shocked at how confusing these pin releases are. Imagine if some stores had put their Sony Playstation 3 systems out on the shelves a couple of days ago instead of releasing them on the specified date. People would have been livid and it would have made the national news. Granted that release involves two companies so there is probably a contract specifying when the systems can be sold with a penalty clause if the rules aren't followed. But why should a pin buyer expect something different from Disney? They specified a release date and in my opinion they should have released the pins on that date. If Disney is going to release its pins on or about a date, they should state that instead of listing a specific date. They probably have a disclaimer saying that release dates may change without notice somewhere on their pin site but if they do, it seems to be hiding in some fine print.

Not having enough supply to cover the demand is much more understandable. It does happen. I don't doubt they made a conservative estimate for the size of the first run of these pins. That makes sense since they didn't know what the demand would be. They haven't released pins with VMK prizes before so I can tolerate the lack of stock. But I can't tolerate the inconsistent information given to cast members and the failure to hold the pins until their specified release date. It's not fair to the cast members or the customers.

I hope you are able to get your pins soon. I may have to wait for the Disneyland release. At least I have friends who will trade in the parks in order to get the pins and cards for me. If I manage to get some pins, I will gladly work with you to help you complete your set of pins.

This pin release is very unique - you have VMK collectors buying them for the cards, you have card collectors buying them too, and then pin collectors - they hit 3 different collecting genes in one shot - I, myself, will be collecting the cards with the pins on them for my card collection - they go together so they will stay together - my wife wants the pins.. we both play VMK so we want the items too - so far, I bought 5 boxes on mail order and picked up 6 pins for less than $8 each on ebay - with any luck, I will get one of each in my boxes, but anything I am missing I will just wait on because it IS an open release, meaning they will keep producing them for a while.

You sound like me! I want at least two full sets just for myself. One for my VMK cards only collection and one for my soon to be started VMK cards with pins collection which will actually be a part of my VMK cards collection. I will put the pins from the first set in my soon to be started VMK pins collection. I may want a third set so I can display the pins alone and on their cards in my VMK pins collection. This is how the mind of a collector works. All you pin collecting noobs beware, you are entering very dangerous territory! :rotfl2:

That's a WHOLE lotta credits going into that thought!!

I wish I had some cards, I have to trade for everything, because I've never been to a disney park. I'll gladly trade for the virtual items, just let me know what you want.

you are so right - it is so easy to go overboard when collecting anything - there is a fine line between collecting and compulsive disorder (no, I am not kidding, I looked it up in a psychiatric book!) - I have crossed that line a few times in my collecting of things - when you start to dip into the bills/mortgage etc to buy collectibles, you need to re-assess what and why you collect! :) Because of my crossing the line, my card collection has been on hold (except VMK cards) for well over a year now while I find out what I REALLY want to collect

any news? im hoping the cards and pins will drastically decrease by late december(26-31st) thats when im going to wdw after my cruise.

any chance they will have them at the little disney shop at the orlando airport??( its the shop with the snow white, goofy hat and stuff outside)

Do regular card collectors want the VMK cards? I have over 2 shoeboxes of cards and I am not really into it myself. I give a lot of the cards that I get over and over again to my DD to play with!

The only card I want is the Stitch Hat one. Even used. You wouldn't happen to have that one, would you? ;)

OMG i had a dream last night that i went to wdw AND THEY were sold out! Then I just saw this thread.

their hot now, come december they will be cooling off. i mainly want the cards and pins, its a tie bc i collect cards and im an avid pin goer
