I placed my order 11/14.
My credit card had been charged on 11/14 but seeing all the posts here about being out of stock/backorder I called again on 11/15 and was told that my order was filled. I thought all was fine, I called early enough, yay!
But Lo! I just got off the phone with (407) 363-6200; I had called to find out the status of my order. I was hoping to get a tracking number so I could watch the shipping progress. But I was told that my order was on Backorder with no ETA except probably sometime next year. What?!? Next Year?!?
Oh, I'm so disappointed, frustrated, and angry right now!!
I spoke to Eddie who is the Manager's Assitant for the Merchandise Mail Order Gift Services Department (the person in charge there today, the day after Thanksgiving). In addition to apologizing repeatedly (she seemed somewhat sincere, but mostly just wanted to shut me up, I think) I found out the following from her:
1) They were caught completely by surprise on the demand for these pins. She says she's never seen an order like this go so quickly before. She says their stock and the stock in the park was exhausted early the first day.
2) She insisted (and seemed offended that I asked) that the pins were not available/sold prior to 11/14.
3) She says it's normal for them to charge a credit card when the order is placed, not when shipped.
So just because they've taken your money, doesn't mean they've shipped - If I was you and you haven't got your pins yet, I would call to make sure your order shipped!
4) I should have been notified that my order was put on BO, but they're behind and hadn't got around to it.
5) She has no control over the fact that both the
VMK site and the
WDW site still show this item as being currently available. She says she'll let "they guy" who works on those know.
6) They have 3 more orders of pins outstanding. She didn't tell me when they were ordered nor how many more were ordered (saying of that information that she either didn't know or if she did it was "privilaged" and she wouldn't tell me). After asking several times she said that the orders were overdue and that there are more pins on order than were available the first day.
7) She said she refunded the charges to my credit card, but asked if I wanted to remain on BO. I said I did.
She said she would waive the shipping fees ($26) to make up for the BO. But again, she has no ETA and assumes the pins won't be available until "after Christmas."
8) Normally there would be no notification when the BO was filled and my order shipped, but she said she could e-mail me the tracking info if I liked (I would like that and gave her my addy).
