Viva la ZELL!

Ah. Looks like Brenda beat me to the punch. I'm a military spouse. I know what medals and devices are, and I know why/when they're worn. You and the media are obviously incredibly ignorant. Stick to subjects you know.

Brenda beat you to the punch how?

She honestly said that while her unit was instructed to wear the Unit Award even thouh it was earned by a previous unit, she has no clue what the regulations were back in the 70's.

If you read the comments listed below the article on the site the editor says if Bush was authorized to wear the OUA it would be listed in his DD-214 which it is not. . . and it also appears from the various comments that at different times the rules were different and I'm wondering if maybe different sates had different rules as well. .

The editor also states Air Force Public Affairs has been asked to provide the info on whether or not Bush would have been allowed/orderd to wear that award at that time and so far they haven't been able to find an answer.

So Air Force Public Affairs doesn't know,. . and Breanda honestly said she can't say for sure, and you endorse her statements which must mean you don't know. . and then you call me ignorant?

Oooooo-kaayyy. .

:hyper:

Bush has been accused of being AWOL because of a gap in his records; he has not been accused of being charged, tried, and convicted of being AWOL Sha_lyn. . LOL

And as far as the desperation remark. . when the best person we can find to represent our party is a senile, hate-filled, dishonest, hillbilly, Republican and our candidate claims to feel the War on Terror is "unwinnable", then perhaps your point will have some validity. .

For now it is your boy George that expressed doubts about our ability to prevail and no doubt gave the terrorists aid and comfort. .

John Kerry has been resolute in his confidence of our ability to win this war. . and with him as our president, we will. :)

Not if it was a unit award that he was authorized to wear only during his time with that unit. Those types of awards don't appear on a 214

What's really sad about this statement is that you seem intelligent enough to know what he meant when he made the remarks you refer to.

As a Georgian and Democrat I find Zell to be a big slap in the face. To make an entire lifetime career using the Democrat party and donations to further his career, then to come out in the end saying - Oh, I'm still Democrat, but the Republicans are right... Well, let's just say I bet it has been nice making all this new money off his book and public appearances. What a joke and the perfect example of a hypocrite!

And don't bother with any debates to this, I live with a Republican for a husband - God bless my soul!

Thank you for your comments Grog! I appreciate you clearing that up for me! :)

I'm sure the Republicans would never use a comment like that against Kerry and would instead insist on putting them in the proper context and accepting them as a statement of confidence because of their strong sense of fair play.

But you know us Dems. . we play low and dirty or we're just to stupid to comprehend anything we read. . :(

By the way, they find those WMD's yet?

And now that Saddam is out of power have we just packed up and left and let the Iraqi's run things however they want?

Just for the record, I'm not a Republican. I haven't voted for a Republican for President since 1988.

I'm well aware of the fact that the Republicans would use a comment like that against Kerry, I'm just saying that it's a shame that people even feel the need to do that. It's sad when something as important as a Presedential race is reduced to "neener, neener, I can deliberately take things out of context just like the other guys".

Which demonstrates that the editor is ignorant. First off, in the 1970s, National Guard members didn't receive DD-214s when they left the military, unless they had been activated to active duty. Second of all, if the the award was a "temporary wear", it wouldn't have been on President Bush's discharge papers, because it wasn't awarded while he was part of the unit.

Let me try this again, not that you care about facts. That just show how ignorant the Dem's are. They accuse him of committing a a violation that does not exist in the Guard/Reserves.

That just show how ignorant the Dem's are.

This is one thing that drives me INSANE  about Republicans AND my hubby - pompous attitudes. Bush is the icon of pompousness. :wave2:

Lenshanem- When Zell started out in politics in Georgia, there was only 1 political party in GA- the democrats. If you wanted a political career in those days, you had to be a democrat. Only in the last 10-15 years have the republicans had any sort of presence in GA.

As a consequence of being the only party around in those days, GA democrats were a much more moderate group than the current democrats. Sure, Zell might fit in better today in the republican party, but at his age and stage of political career, he's not going to bother to switch parties. It is true that his opinions haven't changed over the years but the beliefs of the democratic party, especially in the south, have changed.

Also, BIL is a democrat politician on Capital Hill who knows Kerry and Bush. Even BIL will tell you that Kerry is far more pompous than Bush.

I find it hard to believe anyone is more pompous than Bush!

Course, I'm not exactly thrilled with Kerry either so... :confused3

Why? Why not switch? Makes no sense to me. He does nothing for the Democratic party now then insult.

Oh, I know why! He can make more money this way! Everyone loves a little controversy. Makes all the Republicans want to go out and buy his book! (Including hard headed hubby!)

I don't know Zell personally but from what I hear from friends who do know him, he appears to be headed back to Young Harris to enjoy his retirement and family in the North GA mountains. I think he is enjoying his final 15 minutes of fame. As for Zell's book, all of those political books from both parties will be on the sale table at Barnes & Noble in just 2 more months.

Well, I guess he'll go out with a bang and a nice extra bit to go into his retirement. I'd never trust a politician as far as I could throw them anyway - Democrat or Republican.

That is what it is all about anyway, right? Making money. Zell got it down good for the end of his career! Too bad it wasn't doing something like Habitat for Humanity.
