My family and I are going in June.
Apart from the Vatican any other sites with a dress code?
Also, do we visit any places where there are restrictions on photography and where cameras & bags have to be checked ?

Thank you

Bob

Most of the larger churches have dress codes. Some enforce it more than others, like St. Peter's in Rome and the Duomo in Florence. No photography in the Sistine Chapel, inside St. Mark's in Venice and at the Accademia in Florence (Michelangelo's David). There may have been others, but these I remember. You will see people taking photos, but the local guides hired by ABD will ask you to be respectful and not take photos.

What is the dress code for the churches in Italy?

Usually shoulders and knees must be covered, so no shorts/skirts/tank tops. If you want to wear a sleeveless shirt, you could bring a wrap or scarf to cover your shoulders.

Thanks for the information. I was planning on doing capris each day. So that should work fine. DH may not be too thrilled with having to wear pants in that Italian heat. But I guess he will have to deal with it.

My 19 and 21 year old sons wear those long pants that have the zip off bottoms. With those he would be covered and be comfortable the rest of the time.
