I present to you the post that was going to be "More Pop, because we can..." But is now entitled:
"Nuggets in the Wild"
Restaurantasauras (aka McDonald's) in Animal Kingdom's Dinoland
9/20/07 (?)
I had originally planned on reviewing our dinner at Pop Century,
which we had in place of a CS I had planned at the park formerly known as MGM.
We were too hot, cranky and tired to wait around for Fantasmic, so we headed back early to the resort.
Unfortunately, I can't find my pile of receipts to tell you what we ate there.
So, instead, we are moving along to our next day at Animal Kingdom.
Up until now, the Hicks had been pretty adventurous in their eating, all in all.
Usually we avoid food that we can get at home.
But, in honor of my picky nephew, Stitch Jr.,
I decided to make an exception and schedule in a stop at
Restaurantasauras for some WDW-ized Mickey D's.
This restaurant is located in Dinoland, sort of across from the entrance to the dinosaur ride.
We had only been to this restaurant before for their now defunct character breakfast.
We've always really liked the dinosaur decor,
but the service and the food had really gone down hill at breakfast.
We found a couple of tables to push together,
and got everyone situated,
and went up in shifts to order.
The line was horrible, and the wait was longer than I like,
but still not too bad.
The real McDs is waaaaay faster, and that's saying something.
Our orders were taken without complication,
and we managed to wind our way back to our tables.
I believe John had his ever present cheeseburger,
but most of us had good ole McD's Chicken nuggets,
along with fries and a drink.
I have to say, they hit the spot.
I have always been a fan of the chicken nuggets,
and something about all the fancy food we had been eating
made them really taste good.
The kids had gotten theirs in happy meals
which included a dinosaur squirt gun, which was a big hit!
For dessert we had (I think) strawberry shortcakes, brownies, and mini-cookies (in the happy meals.)
I remember the desserts were really good.
All in all, this meal turned out to be a good choice,
and if it were not for all the people wandering around looking for seats
and ready to pounce every time we twitched,
it would have been even better.
I was surprised it was so good, and I would recommend this to anyone that wants a taste of something familiar.
Try to hit it earlier or later than noon,
which is where we messed up, I believe.
Maybe not the most exotic use of a Dining Plan CS credit,
but it was filling and good, and,
at the end of the day,
isn't that what you really want in a meal?
