I received a call from Vistana Villages last night offering me 5d/4n for $149. with $100 cash back. I was required to take the TS tour. They also have a package for $599 8/7n including Seaworld or Universal tickets for two.
I have taken the tour at the Vistana Resort and Westgate many years ago. The Westgate tour was horrible. Vistana was less pressure. Has anyone take the tour at VV lately and how high pressure was it. I have no intention of buying fromthe developer since I know that I can buy resale for much, much less. The deal looks good and I have no problem telling them no. They called me and offered it to me. Any advice would be appreciated

I would do it as long as you know you can say no and don't feel pressured to be pressured. I think you sound like you know what you are doing, and yes you can buy resale so much cheaper. What does it hurt. If worse comes to worse, you got some time in "Disneytown". I would go for it. I wish they would call me, I have been interested in buying and would LOVE to go see the place.

I am going on sun on this package. We take the tour on wed 8/23. I will let you know when we get back. All I can say now is that we stayed at the vistana 2 times and the tour was very low pressure. I would take them up on this deal. How could you go wrong for $49 for 4 nights????
Enjoy!

They called again last night and offered the package again. All they needed was $79. downpayment to hold it for one year. This agent also explained that there was a $14.00 per night Florida tax, pool towel, telephone charge in addition to the $149.00. I seem to learn something new each time they call. This is the third call in four weeks.

I look forward to your post when you return.

Have a wonderful vacation.

I stayed at the Vistana Villages last year through an RCI Exchange. The resort was very nice. We did the timeshare tour and it was not too bad. It's possible that the salespeople gave up more easily because we already owned timeshare, but I'd expect them not to be too high pressure even with someone who doesn't own but who knows about the resale market.

Remember, Vistana Villages is part of the Sheraton brand, and they don't want to do anything that might give their brand a bad name. Westgate just sells timeshares, so they have nothing to lose by pressuring you to buy. Westgate also has the reputation of having the highest-pressure sales presentations of any major timshare company. The presentation at Vistana Villages should be much lower pressure than Westgate's was.

The Sheraton/Westin timeshare system (Starwood Vacation Ownership, aka SVO) is very nice, so you might find yourself tempted to buy! If you think that is a possibility, go to www.tug2.net before your stay, and read up on the Starwood system. It is possible that a salesperson will tell you that you have to buy directly from the resort in order to trade through the SVO system (Staroptions) for another Starwood timeshare resort, such as Harborside at the Atlantis. Although this is usually true, there are ways of getting around this and using the SVO system (Staroptions) even if you buy resale. However, you do have to buy directly from a Starwood resort if you want to get Starwood's preferred customer points (Starpoints) that can be used for stays at Starwood hotels (not timeshares) such as the Swan and Dolphin. If you aren't all that interested in Sheraton/Weston hotels and timeshares, you can ignore this last paragraph!
