Vistana resort

Oh, One more thing on my Vistana reseration it's a 2br 2bath sleeps 6 max. So, I figure the 2nd bedroom must be 2 twin beds.
Sue

Sue - I am almost positive that the only section that sleeps 6 is the Falls - anyone want to confirm that??

No Way! That is incredible. Have you called the manager back? Is it just taking a long time or have you been blown off?
Tara

Stupid me - I didn't write down the manager's name that called, and now I forget what it was... I have a feeling I was blown off, I think the info on the starpoints would have been here by now, since he said he was setting it up right away.
I really don't know what else to do about it - besides kick myself for not writing down his name!!

Jen

Sue- I looked up the unit # that they gave you and it is in the Falls section. Jen thinks that the only unit that has 6 max. is Falls. I have heard that some of the older units have been updated.

Maria....ttfn3....Spiceycat....Where are you guys? :magnify: These 3 people are the big Vistana experts. What have you guys heard about the Falls section?
Tara

I know how bad the Falls is I read some reviews on Trip Advisor and the reviews are horrible!!! Someone that stayed their I think In January or February 2006 said they walked in and it was a total dump!! They said they called and complained to rci and they were moved to another resort!!! Interval International states right on their website cascades or lakes and does not list any other sections of the resort. Now I know I won't sleep tonight!! My reservation/confirmation that I received in the mail does not state what section or what unit I will be in it just says 2 bedroom 2 bath sleeps 6 privately and 6 maximum. The unit #0267 is listed on my exhange page online. Is this how the falls works sleeps 6 privately? I really appreciate all this help everyone is giving me and if anyone has any more information PLEASE let me know
Thank you

Sue - that was me writing the report you are talking about on tripadvisor-- my original post on this thread is also about the Falls section. This is where we were placed and left after one night. Sorry to scare you - this was just our experience - others may have a different opinion. Honestly, if I were you, I would try and switch out of the resort, if you are indeed in the Falls section. (of course, this is just my opinion) The Falls section is totally different than the other new sections, and definatly not up to a "gold crown" rating.
Good luck!

:scared: WOW!! What a small world! I have read your review on trip advisor about 10 times. I just got off the phone with the vistana and asked them about this. I told them I had an Interval exchange and Interval list the cascades or lakes on their website. I told her I was afraid I would be placed in the older section of the resort. She said no it will be in the cascades or lakes. I don't know if I should believe her she did not sound too conviencing. She didn't ask for my reservation number only my last name. When we took the kids last year we stayed at the Disney Boardwalk my kids were upset we weren't staying their again this year. I can just imagine what they would be like if we were staying in the old section of the Vistana they would probably take a cab home. We got into timeshare because of some of the dumpy hotels we have stayed in in the past down in disney. I remember one that we left all our luggage in the car and all 4 of us slept in the same double bed because we were afraid of the cockroaches. We check in about midnight and were out by 7:oo am. All in the same clothes we had on when we checked in. This was the week we bought into the DVC.
Is any of the units in the lakes or cascades 2br 2bath sleeps 6 privately 6 maximum??

My confirmation states: :scared: :crazy2: b.r.1- one King size bed /B.R.2 -two single beds /living area -1 pull out sofa(queen)/ living area- whirlpool bath/shower /bedroom 1 -bathtub/shower also I noticed under other facilities their is only a tv in the master bedroom and one in the living room no mention of a dvd or vcr player. It also states laundry facility in unit does this sound like a unit in the lakes or cascades? I'll be up all night
sue :scared: :crazy2: It also says it has a TRASH COMPACTOR (that sounds old to me)

b.r.1- one King size bed /B.R.2 -two single beds /
Sue I can confirm that the Falls is the only "sleep 6" 2 bedroom. The Falls does have to the two singles in the 2nd bedroom. I was at work all day and just got a chance to see your posts.
Sue, I'd check with Vistana again and tell them you want some sort of assurance that you will not be placed in the Falls. Ask for a manager and make note of their name. I'll PM you..........

I thought I would jump in and add my 2 cents. We stayed in the Falls section about 2 summers ago. Our neighbors stayed in the Falls March of 2005. We had a unit right across the street from the Falls pool. The location was GREAT. Our unit was fine. I don't remember it being musty - nor the unit that our neighbors had - they were happy with their unit. The screen in porch is really nice and big and had a great view of the pond. Both of the Falls units I have seen had a cute game table that you could play checkers on - we liked that! We have stayed in a lot of condo type Florida accomodations across the State. The negatives IMHO of the Falls are that it's a smaller darker interior (less windows plus it's more "woodsy" darker greens colors), there are 2 twin beds in the 2nd Bedroom, and there isn't really a true jacuzzi tub (ours was just built into the bottom of the master shower - and we never used it). My DH actually prefers the location of the Falls section - since you have 3 pools right there, miniature golf, tennis, arcarde, etc. We got a great deal thru Skyauction and were happy with the unit for the price that we paid.

I prefer the Fountains section. We have been lucky to get 2 newly renovated units there. The 2 bedrooms units are bigger than the Falls and much brighter. Being newly renovated - was really great!! Everything was so clean. Each room was larger than the Falls units. We have been within a close walk to the Fountains pools, so that was very nice.

We always have a car so we don't have any issues with getting around the resort - nor off site.

Oh - we stayed many years ago in a Springs unit which was fine at the time. Last year on one trip, they put us in a Springs unit. We checked the unit out and HATED it. It was so ugly in decor (very pink) and smelled. Plus, our lanai had a view of the air conditioning unit (HUGE) of the Springs activity center and it was so ugly and noisy. So we went back to the registration area and politely asked for a newly renovated unit - and they were able to accomodate us.

The worst part of the VR for me is the checkin. I'm not sure what system they are using, but their ressie people don't seem to have a good idea of the "available" inventory. They should really update their system. That said, we always use Diamond Lane check-in and find the people very pleasant. We are VERY nice to them and we let them know we are more than willing to wait while they search for a unit that we would be happy in.

The best part of the Vistana in our opinions is the pools, activities, and the college kids from other countries that work there. We really like it in the summer and like to stay at the resort and participate in the activities. My DS made friends with one of the kids, who was from Holland - who was incredible with the kids (even the big ones like my DH - LOL). My son stills talks about him to this day.

We have also stayed at the VV. Our unit was beautiful. Negatives were the pillows and the frogs in the ponds were very noisy. We found the staff few and far between (and not very knowledgable) and the activities paled in comparision to the VR.

I hope that you all enjoy the VR and that your fears are put to rest when you get to your unit.

I wanted to give an update - I posted Jan.31 that a manager from Vistana called me about our awful stay (I was told by him that I was going to receive starpoints) - well, surprise surprise, I never received anything!! So much for Vistana "rectifying" the situation........
JenDaveBrendan,
So sorry to hear this.....it's not right. DEF follow-up with them on this. Get a manager's name and write (send it certified) to them. I used to have contacts (in management) at Vistana, but I have really not had corrospondence with them in several years so not even sure if they're still there. I look around and see if I can find a contact that is possibly still there for you.
I had a problem back in '99 and wrote a letter. They gave me a full refund (it was only for 1 night's stay) for my troubles.
