We just confirmed an exchange into Sheraton Vistana and would like advice on any requests we should make.We would like to have the newest units available, and we are checking in on a Sunday. Would we get better results calling or emailing? I did a search on this board and found one thread with a request form.Any other hints will be greatly appreciated! I did a lot of research all over the web and the best info is still here on the DIS!!!! ::MinnieMo

Hi,
We stayed at Vistana last November and really enjoyed our stay! We stayed in the Lakes section by the Fountains Super pool. I was told that cascades and Lakes were the newest units. I requested both these areas by emailing 3 weeks prior to our stay through Diamond Lane. I promptly received a email back telling me that there were no available units at Lakes or Cascades during my stay. When we checked in (late Sunday night) I was super nice to the check in girl (chatted with her for about 10 minutes about roller coasters) and she gave me a wonderful new Lakes unit. I reserved a 2bedroom with the 2nd bedroom being twin beds. We were pleasantly surprised to see that we were upgraded with the 2nd bedroom having 2 full beds. The unit also came with free housekeeping. I got a rate of $129 a night through mousesavers. I think this was only through 12/31/04.

Good luck and enjoy your stay! :flower:

Thanks, kathyclownfish, that is just the kind of info I hoped for!! Did your unit have a balcony? My Dh sells timeshare and is very excited to be staying "off-site" and of course is hoping for a great unit to be able to share a positive exchange story. (I am the major Disney nut and we own points but DH is saving those for me and traded one of his weeks!!) Do you think it is too soon to make our requests or not (checkin on 3/6)? Thanks again!! ::MinnieMo

Just wanted to say that all of the rooms will have a screened in porch area. I have never used Diamond lane check in--but will next time-and we have ended up in Springs, Cascades and Fountains. Fountains was my favorite.

Have a great trip!

Just like the other poster said, all the units have a screened in porch. But, honestly with the parks so close, a great pool and hot tub on the grounds.....I think I sat outside on the balony once during our 5 night stay.
Go ahead and email the diamond lane now...it can't hurt. And bring their reply with you to check in if they tell you that you got your request. Good luck! :flower1:

Do you know if you are confirmed for a "sleeps 8/privacy 6" or "sleeps 6/privacy 6" ?? Ofcourse, I am assuming you are confirmed for a two bedroom.

Sunday check in could be: Falls, Springs, Cascades, Palms, Lakes or Fountains.

We've stayed in Lakes and were VERY happy. And I would have been just as happy in Fountains or Cascades.

We are confirmed for a two bedroom, not sure about the two different options. I just submitted a request via their Diamond lane for the Cascades area.My DH works in the timeshare business and has been bugging me for years to stay at an off-site property and although this is a short trip for me, he will be there all week and I'm hoping for a great location. ::MinnieMo
